What is coming with the Dec 9th "Catch-Up"?

Just remember that’s going to also be the time that Housing releases and we start getting things for that in Remix.

I doubt the catch up will be any meaningful to casuals. We want to check out housing and retail prep stuff for Midnight in December. If the catch up means we can gear alts from 584 to 740 and Limits Unbound from 0 to 999 in a couple of weeks only doing LFR, sure - but we all know that’s a huge cope.

Bro where do you buy your copium? I need me some of that good stuff.

I DID say it was a tinfoil hat theory

I’m more interested in the original remix content.

i think it’s there to entice people who didn’t play by saying hey, it’s super easy now are you suuuure you don’t want to just knock these out quick?

alts feel terrible currently, i just hit 80 on them and abandon until something is needed. could not imagine playing with that much lost power

The more content that is open the easier it will be to catch up. Right now you can do ~25% vers daily with the raids. Add ToS to the mix, that daily vers gain goes up. Add ABT, and it goes up again.

There’s inherent catch up in the system already. If you’re looking for catchup that lets you make a fresh 80 and have it at 750 vers the next day, that’s probably not going to happen.

Easy ‘fix’ would be making IP account wide if you have been already playing before and increase the IP gains by huge amounts. But the first one would be probably too complicated for the dust crew that is managing this..

XP catch up is pointless.
IP catch up is pointless.

ilvl catch up is what needs to happen, so that the majority of people leveling the other three armor types can actually get invited to ToV M raids and have a chance at surviving to the end for the achievement. You could have 300 versatility, but if your ilvl says “598” (due to the awful lack of bad luck protection keeping half your slots at 550 while it showers you with 740 for slots you’ve already covered), you won’t get invited.

Umm no. I have 1.2 mill right now and have had up to 2 million

Did they update it?

First week or so I believe yes

You can game the system to always provide upgrades. It looks at the average item level of your bags. If you keep a bunch of 571 items you get from the random infinite treasure boxes in your bags and use motes, it’s going to take those items into account when it generates items.

Only keep items in the bag that are higher level, and the motes system should continually give you incremental upgrades as intended. It’s tedious but it doesn’t waste motes because you have a bunch of green items from random activities bringing down your inventory average item level.

My guess is 3x gains.

Would be nice if they introduced a vendor selling reputation tokens for 50k-100k bronze or something during the last “catch-up” phase.

Like if you don’t care about transmogs, mounts, pets, or super high end gear - you can at least boost your reps before the event is over.

I know Blizz would never do it, but a man can dream…

You aren’t swimming in rep tokens already?

I wonder where the loudest uproar would come from?

Those who didn’t want them to come back or……

Players who are pissed they don’t have enough time left at that stage to power up every class to grab all the weapons?

Even better….what if Blizz brings the MT back for all specs in that last phase…..but tunes it around 999 Vers.

That is precisely the passive-agressive crap I expect from Ion and crew at Blizzard.

if you have a friend with high vers they can just make a group and invite your useless alt. sometimes friends are very good to have, even in an mmo. but without friends, yes maybe thats a valid point

I don’t have many friends to begin with and none of them play WoW (anymore). And even back then they weren’t online reliably. I don’t have one of these magical “always full of online people” friends lists that others seem to have. You’d also have to be SUPER careful in M ToV since a minor breeze will kill an undergeared character.

I’m willing to step back from my previous suggestion that we should be able to buy a baseline set of gear with bronze (since there’s NOTHING to dump it on otherwise) if we could just get some bad luck protection. When you generate a new item with 10 motes it should automatically target your lowest ilvl slot and up it by +6, for example. I’m tired of having to scrap 30 items in a row because they refuse to drop for the slots that need upgrading.
