And why would my mac ask me to enter my password without being transparent as to what it is doing? I didn’t allow it.
You might want to ask here. This sounds like something to do with your operating system and not something to do with Blizzard.
EDIT: Oh, moved into a more appropiate location. Hopefully someone can help you a bit more better.
no, it had a battle, net icon attached to the password input.
I don’t know off the Battle.net Application with “Agent” or any applications from “Agent”.
As I said, it sounds like something more with your Operating System, and not something of Blizzard.
From what I’ve Googled:
The macOS agent is a piece of software that’s installed on an organization’s macOS devices to enable an MDM solution to augment its capabilities. It allows MDM solutions to go beyond Apple’s MDM protocol and unlock advanced management abilities. MDM vendors build unique macOS agents to tailor their platforms to specific business needs.
I “believe” Blizzard Agent is part of battlenet app, and has to do with updates. I feel like I have seen it before.
if battle.net wants me to allow it open access it might want to consider explaining what it asking me to allow it to do.
Agent in this case is the background process associated with battle.net. it can often request permissions if you use multiple user accounts on same mac or play on a non admin account since it needs to request admin privileges for install updates.
I knew I wasnt crazy!
Been happening since patch and is ANNOYING.
This usually works, but hasn’t this time: change your WoW folder permission to RW for everyone. Do same with (your home) / library / application support for all blizzard folders in there.
It’s the malware Microsoft uses to spy on you. Apple now blocks the battle.net-setup installer from running as it’s detected (rightfully) as malware.
