I was typing while you made this reply, I don’t appreciate the snarkiness.
PvP in WoW is basically just like every other pillar and to an extent, the game itself-
It’s niche (and aged) but the people that stick around are a dedicated few.
It isn’t hard for me to believe ahah.
Other games have PvP scenes that are similar. Especially older games.
Thought you liked pvp
Being toxic is a personality flaw, nothing to do with PvP.
Half of pvp is psychological
My type of psychological warfare is watching a caster fake cast himself to death.
Tilt the enemy, remain untilted, victory.
Not saying to be toxic, but it is funny to press buttons if people are being mean sometimes.
A demotivated opponent is a free win
It will probably be the time to cancel my subscription permanently. I doubt if I skip an expansion that I will ever come back. Just too old.
Well, if WoD and SL didn’t manage to kill WoW, this concept certainly might. That’s a hard pass from me.
I think that’s overkill lol.
Humbling a cocky opponent is what is fun to me.
This seems to be the general opinion from GD but what are you assuming a PvP focused expansion would be?
Is it the title? You see PvP theme and the rest is history?
All opponents are cocky for the audacity of standing before me
The majority of the player base doesn’t PvP, or at least doesn’t do so heavily, is why. There is a dedicated base for it, but it’s not the majority. An expansion with PvP front and center would kill this game faster than this game’s worst expansions could have ever dreamed of.
18-24 months where the primary content is PvP with maybe a single new dungeon or delve tossed in, since that is the level of focus PvP gets as a side activity to the expansions.
Sure, most players don’t PvP now, but that’s because it’s never been the focus. Make it meaningful, rewarding, and story-driven, and many casuals would jump in too.
Yeah, PvP usually just gets side-dressed, but the idea here is a PvP-first expansion, progression, story, and rewards all driven by PvP, with dungeons/quests supporting the war instead of being the main focus.
PvE still exists, it’s just not the main focus. Everything feeds into the PvP-driven war effort instead of raids being the endgame.
Hence why everyone leaves.
If you want a PvP focused game, go play a battle royale or…something.
It would be the first expansion I ever avoided buying and sat out til the next one.
I don’t PvP in WoW cause it sucks. If they ever removed roots and stuns, I might try it again. But there is nothing fun about getting stunned for 30 seconds while 2-5 people of the other faction violate your character. I love PvP, in every other game I play it in. I would NEVER invest time or money in a PvP-centric expansion.
