What if interrupts dealt damage?

Find it really strange there isn’t a talent that gives Rogue’s an incentive to kick

Mind Freeze gets 3 seconds removed from CD off successful interrupt
Hunter gets 10 Focus off CS/Muzzle
Balance gets a 45 second instead of a minute IIRC
Monk gets a CD reduction in Leg Sweep/Paralysis too I believe

Honestly, they just need to bake in the Sephuz Secret effect into all interrupts, stops, dispels, etc

That sounds more than the measly 5% I get if I waste a talent…

I think interrupts would maybe be less burden on the group if they worked like dispels where it only actually consumed it if the interrupt is successful. Coordinated groups it’s fine, but when the majority of players pug it seems like it would be an overall win to prevent overlaps.

They would disable that in pvp, before any pvpers get mad.

I just wish my interrupts worked on elite bosses. It makes no sense, to me, that they don’t.

The biggest thing is that so many bosses are just “rush to X amount of health to start Y phase.” with massive health pools where it’s like 30% of 100 million health. This tends to condition DPS and most folks to do more damage over everything else, it doesn’t help that the meta itself is kinda wonky, with some DPS not being properly fitted with a toolkit, especially defensives, designed to cover the face tank mechanics of AOE everywhere.

There needs to be more cohesion of design, rather than trying to design a separate mechanic for DPS, Tanks, and Healers respectively… especially when tanks are the apparent bar set.

If that’s how you want it to be, then update EVERY class to that standard, why does a Hunter have to run around like a cockroach without a head while everyone else besides the Warlock has proper defensives for that design?

if you count cc’s that stop casting like stuns or knock backs technically those ARE interrupts but they won’t show up on the meters. If they did I would have hundreds per m+ run

how am I not surprised someone who chose to name themself “Illidonkey” somehow took the int=dmg experiment as a personal attack.

People would just macro their interrupt to every single ability because its off global. Dispels are on gcd.

Trade off is add them all to the GCD?

I’m fine w/ a trade off. Then it still incentivizes coordination.

Oh then I infinitely prefer the current setup.

Making up things that never existed just to attack a class is certainly a behavior you can choose to have

DH had a kick damage buff in legion. I remember cuz our DH always wanted to get the kick at the start of P3 mythic argus.

Well as a warrior one of my talents has it where if I interrupt a cast it gives me an increase in damage on said mob.

If interrupts dealt more damage then people would just be leaving both an interrupt and some extra damage on the table when they ignore casts.

Either that or they’d just macro them to a DPS ability for the extra damage (if it didn’t require a successful interrupt) since they aren’t on GCD and then it would be on CD when the cast came anyhow.

The problem with heavily incentivising kicks by tying them to output is you don’t incentivise people to use their kicks well, you incentivise them to kick any cast they see on cooldown.

As a shadow priest I kick maybe 10 times in an entire key but that’s because I hold mine for only the most important casts and only when they’re either just about to go off or if I’m the only one who can get them. Is that bad play because my total number of kicks is low? Ofcourse not.

Personally I think that’s fairly decent given the cooldown on your interrupt anyhow.

Interrupting anything you see might yield a few more and might not depending on pull cadence and how fast casters are going down.

A lot of it already is tied into dps, albeit indirectly. Still doesnt help

I like the idea that a successful interrupt provides some benefit, but I’m worried that it might backfire if the benefit is just raw dps.

I can imagine everyone vying to interrupt ASAP and then no CDs are left for later casts in bigger pulls.

Maybe if there was a more subtle buff earned like movement speed, AOE Dr, increase in healing taken, cool down reduction for xyz akills.
