What has happened to the community here?

Yes welcome to the age of Mythic plus where dungeons are just go, go, go even in Normals

I’ve been exclusively doing keys and LFG on my tanks and healers since DF’s release and have experienced very little toxic behavior. Maybe I’m lucky, or maybe this really isn’t as common as everyone is panning it out to be. This is one experience, after all.

As to why it happens, the answer is obvious. Everyone is veiled by anonymity and the lack of commitment that is LFG. They can leave in the blink of an eye and never have to see or talk to you again, making them a lot more bold in what they will say and do.

Best you can do is not let it get to you and move on.

I will change that to nation. Race post 1800s has a different meaning now.

Well, we all determine the norms. Collectively. In how we behave toward one another every day.

I would rather it was otherwise. But this is the community we have. It’s why I rarely PUG. And even when I do, I have a thick skin and I work a little to charm people and smooth over rough times. It’s something I’m pretty good at. But I don’t pretend everyone is. And sometimes it is still toxic.

The best thing we can do is be excellent to each other, communicate our expectations, be forgiving of each other’s mistakes, and challenge each other to do the same.

Most of the people are decent people. Don’t let the jerks get you down.

As an American, I can say, most people here are just wanting to live and avoid all this stuff. There’s a lot of hard-working people here, but the government sucks, and yea there’s bad apples in every nation, but it’s not “worse” here. Like I said, when a nation is doing some odd things militarily, I always look at the government, because it’s not the citizens declaring war.

It’s honestly pretty disheartening how socially maladjusted a good portion of the WoW Community is both in-game and here on the forums.

It’s not hard to at least be pleasant to each other–and it’s even easier to be not actively unpleasant, and yet when you put the bar on the floor so many people decide it’s time to get a shovel and start digging.

I don’t get it.

That is a lesson we all could use every day not just in the game but in self improvement if the persons is willing. There are many versions of levels, just as there are many window to look through and those paths are trying if we have the patience to recognize them.

That’s true but I’m one of those weird strange people that “care too much”. Jokes on me I guess.

yup. this is what happens when you can’t or won’t tell kids, “no.” i even see it with my sister and her kids…

The game itself ain’t so bad it’s just the forums. This place is worthless why you think blizz left here lol. The game is no more toxic than in the past.

It’s a lot harder than I care to admit to do though. I care too much and it eats at me. Guess I just am a different beast altogether. Best thing I can figure to do is go solo play, do old content and avoid the PUG groups but then I miss out on current content. So which edge of the sword do I get cut by today it seems.

That is also true. I guess as Frost said, “I took the path less traveled” and it’s different than what most people do now days. Guess that’s the price of “not fitting in” with the “norm”.

We need players like you who do want to improve the community. I’m glad you care.

Well if you’d not mind having a Dwarf friend who needs good friends feel free to hit like and subsc- I mean… Facepalm Drop your Bnet maybe so we can level, play or something perhaps? (Yes I know bad joke about the Yew toob)

Look up the tragic story of Tseric.

If a word starts to be used a different way, that is simply how language works. A dictionary needs to be kept up to date with common usage.

Hey, that’s like in leveling dungeons where somebody insists on taking a “shortcut” that is actually longer because of all the elite mobs they’re going to aggro.

i blame the draenei.

It’s true that all we can do is control ourselves, but it’s hard not to be disheartened when you’re repeatedly smacked with so much negativity.

I try to be the kind of player I’d want to run into, and I hope that it inspires other people to do so. As much as I really want to believe that you get back what you give out, oftentimes it’s not the case and some people just love to be rotten and antagonistic for the sake of it.

Will I ever understand it? No. Do I have to deal with it? Regrettably, yes.

I know it’s a waste of time to wonder why people behave the way they do but it really does boggle me. To behave so spitefully as I often see people here and in game too takes a conscious decision and effort that I just can’t wrap my head around.

The draw to MMOs for me is the collaborative aspect of things. I do enjoy working in groups when people are willing to work together, and I think being able to share success is such a great feeling. All it takes is one person to mess up a team/group though.

Just. Be the best you can be. Hope others do the same, but understand that all you can do is hope, at the end of the day.

This forum is in no way a reflection of the WoW community.

My experience is the forums are WAY more toxic and edgy than people in the game.

If we wasn’t here you’d have nothing good to stare at.
