What happened to the immersive experience?

The Cata revisions of the zones were largely lacking-- but unlike the original quests, some of the zones are phased for the player, such as the Horde endings of the Stonetalon Mountains zone and the entirety of Silverpine Forest (and if you’ve done that and you don’t think it’s immersive, I don’t know what to say. Coming up on nine years later, I think Silverpine is one of the greatest things the WoW team has ever done.)

I haven’t been through the starting zones since Vanilla, but Cata revisions don’t really impact Vanilla immersion other then that’s when you sometimes got to see the fruits of your labor.
