What happened to Metzen fixing WoW?

Since Metzen got on that stage at Blizzcon ive been hopeful that he’d finally get a handle on the writing team and steer them away from whatever Disney hellscape they were writing us into. Then I saw the storyline they’re releasing in 11.1.7… Alliance is still the only faction? Danath acting like he’s never seen a war before? Scarlet Crusade being treated like a Sunday morning Team Rocket villain? Starting to think Metzen is doing nothing behind the scenes and they just paid him off to give a quick hype speech at blizzcon. I keep telling myself they’re gonna fix the story in Midnight/The Last Titan, but after yet another boring writing failure, I’ve lost hope.

My guy, he just rejoined the writing team at the tail end of DF/start of TWW, and since they write, produce, and polish the expansion several 2-3 at least ahead of time… this means AT LEAST, next expansion will see him have any sort of influence, this is still Danuser’s baby.

Corporations don’t run on the same timescale, and folks really need to stop expecting the metaphorical Titanic to just turn around on a dime here.

This isn’t your salad or steak they have to recook in 20 minutes, it’s a mess of 1s and 0s that takes time to produce, edit, and be rolled out.

If only…

Undermine was, imo, an up swing, but now we’re right back to status quo.

I don’t know how current writing is a Disney hellscape.

The Disney insult just feels so weird and silly

And WotLK, an expansion beloved by many, treated it’s main bad guy like a morning cartoon villain

I mean to be fair, Danuser left 2 years ago. I can understand that Danuser had a big part to play in Dragonflight, and I can also understand that he gave some direction for where the War Within would go. But you can’t tell me that they had 11.1.7 written 2 years ago. The problem I have is that they continue to butcher these beloved characters (Danath and The Scarlet Crusade) even under Metzens watch, which proves to me that they are going to continue butchering characters in future expansions. The fact that we are returning to the old world and northrend is exciting, but also terrifying when imagining what modern day Blizzard will do with the place. I’m sure Metzen probably helped steer them towards the old world as our next location, but will he be able to prevent them from ruining those iconic locations and landmarks by replacing them with their own boring characters? I’m starting to think no. I bet you they blow up Silvermoon in the Midnight prepatch.

Why cant people just enjoy stories?

Seriously.

Unless it gets to Season 8 GoT Levels, I think we should just chill and enjoy the ride. I enjoy the WoW story. Its fun.

I feel like it’s supposed to be MODERN Disney writing… like late MCU, Live action remake, etc… stuff like that… but if you JUST say Disney um… Aladdin? Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tarzan, etc… even up until maybe the last 5 years or so it doesn’t really work as an insult?

That’s exactly it, modern Disney writing. They keep pumping out the same movies and tv shows with a different coat of paint. Obviously can’t hate the Disney classics.

But that still doesn’t even tell me what’s meant by the phrase

Corporate slop basically, mass produced and without a soul, Lilo and Stitch for example… nobody liked it for the sheer amount of bad decisions from casting to CGI and what not.

And Deadpool?

To me it means having a cartoonish villain with grand master plans, overpowered heroes who cant do anything wrong, and a big happy ending no matter what the threat is with little to no consequences on the greater world.

So like WotLK?

Andor?

SW: Rebels?

The list can go on. Yes, Disney has had missteps, and so too has Blizzard. But we cannot discount the incredible stuff either has done just because we dont like a few things here and there.

Sure it’s fine once, but not when it’s repeated the exact same way with a different coat of paint for the past 5 expansions

Well now it seems like we are moving the goal posts

“X is bad”

“Ok well. X was fine when I liked it, but now X is bad”

How so? Modern Disney writing is bad because, like I said above, they keep releasing the same thing over and over with a different coat of paint. That’s exactly what blizzard is doing. How about switching things up and having us lose at the end of an expansion for an example?

Deadpool was bad writing?

Didn’t say that lol but I wouldn’t say the recently released Deadpool 3 had good writing.
