All I hear is: “It’s a win/win because I just need to log in now, and you just need to modify (through charts and guides, btw) how you enjoy playing to do what you want to do because making accommodations to my playstyle messed up the flow of all zones.” (not that you made that happen)
Honestly, I don’t think you understand what needs to be done to not out-level a zone and work to recreate the original leveling process. It’s not as simple as you believe it to be.
I’ve speed leveled as well - what you want is super simple. What I want is a pita under the current gameplay. This has also been stated by the Devs. They are not happy with it, and now they will be fixing it. So really, the discussion is moot.
But for clarity: I want us to both have what we want. I don’t want to have you suffer when you are only here for end-game content, and I want to move through the zones as they were originally intended. Neither one of us should have to go through any extra effort for this. Blizzard can screw up all the zones as much as they want - end-game content focused folk will never be satisfied until it takes 24hrs to start “playing the game” (as they see it from their perspective) I support that. Just don’t muck up the zones.
I think you misunderstand, I don’t really care either. I’ve already got 13 characters at max level and they were there before the 100% bonus was added in. What I’m saying is that for people who want to level slower, they have the option. Are there some hoops to jump through? Sure. For people that want to level quickly, they have a period of time that allows them to do so.
There is no “proper” speed for a zone unless you’re talking about when the content is actually current. Once an expansion is over, it shouldn’t take so long to finish it or else it completely discourages new players by prohibiting them from joining their friends. That content was never meant to provide a meaningful experience once the expansion has ended. Buying a level boost is not the answer.
No matter how quickly or slowly people level, there will always be someone who wishes it to be different. You cannot please everyone. Blizz has gone through several different speeds and I’ve seen considerably less complaining when the leveling was faster than it was slower. That’s purely anecdotal, but take that for what it is.
not really… 15 instances and i blew threw 20 levels… 60-80… that was it. if you put in the time 24 hrs /played and your at 110…some make it to 120 in that time… and this was before the 100% xp buff went into effect.
No one said they dislike leveling they said they dislike leveling through the same content numerous times. If you were so concerned then why didn’t you level through it when that content was current? Instead of 2 years after release? You want slow leveling and a tougher challenge go play wow classic without any mods. And have all the long leveling you want.
Have you checked the retail sub count lately? Retail subscribers ARE the minority. That includes people who are completely unsubbed because of dissatisfaction with the game.
There are 255 retail servers and 41 classic servers. Yes, there are some server mergers coming up but unless you believe that classic servers have seven times as many people on them as retail servers, there is no way that retail subscribers are the minority.
That is exactly what I’m speaking of. I’m very much looking forward to choosing my leveling experience and have it be cohesive and the way the expac chosen was intended to be experienced, instead of the mish-mash and disjointed xp handouts that exist today as Blizzard worked to ease things for the “we hate leveling” crowd. Moving 1-cap will be enjoyable once more!
Many, many, players have stated they dislike leveling. Many players have also stated they dislike going through the same content (even though there are ways to branch differently to some extent). That is why Blizzard has split the expacs up and remade them to be a complete leveling experience. More options so that things are not as repetitive. I think this will be a welcome change for many.
My level of concern = 0. It’s been broken for so long I gave up hoping for a fix. Happily, my ship has come in, as it were, in Shadowlands.
I don’t really understand the last part. Are you complaining that someone may not have been playing WoW, and therefore “should have known to play WoW years ago”? Also, it’s not about “slower leveling”. I always level my professions concurrently with my character - so I’ll get slower leveling regardless. I also enjoy doing all the quests, etc. So I don’t need any changes in that regard to set my personal throttle. “Tougher”. I suppose if you equate “tough” with “time spent”? Leveling in WoW hasn’t been “Tough” since BC, and even back then was only “tough” because I didn’t know what I was doing and didn’t group. If you were a grouping sort of player, the challenge was greatly reduced in all regards.
My focus is on the pace of the story, and having the quests and activities you are doing remain meaningful throughout - just like they were intended to be. That’s all. If you don’t like the pace that Blizzard has chosen for the expac/zone, there are boosts for you. A really good solution for those who have friends waiting on them.
Sorry for the late reply - the novel came out and I had to consume it! >.<
This. Xp buff and it’ll be faster after the squish as well. I don’t think they want people burning out while leveling. It used to happen to me a lot early on, why it took me almost the entirety of TBC to cap my first character.
I’m liking the brisk pace, yes you skip around a lot (that should be fixed once everything is scaled in SL), but this will be 120 #10 so I don’t savor the leveling experience and it really can’t go by fast enough (which is why I was nervous about heirlooms losing xp).
There’s not really a ‘maxed out zone’ anymore since zones scale to your level up to a certain expansion threshold OP. Also the 100% XP buff makes things go quicker.
Silly Night Elf. Book are for reading, not eating. Silly Night Elf~
If it’s fast, it might as well not be there because it has no meaning. There’s no other argument. If you’re not enjoying leveling, using it as a “gotta get through this”, you’re wasting your time, and if the game isn’t designed for leveling to be enjoyable, this game is a massive waste of time.
Good thing blizzard realized this fundamental mistake hopefully, and fixes it in shadowlands, hopefully.
Well one of the great changes is that they’re introducing Mastery very early in the leveling experience. I think it’s level 10. So hopefully this means that they will be reworking gear early on as well and will maybe even plug it onto heirloom gear to replace their XP bonus.
Incorrect again no one minds leveling thru the content a few times but not 8 plus times again your worried abojt the story I dont know what to to tell you the story is currently at bfas expansion anything before that isn’t the current story of you want to play the story as intended then play it at launch. Not 5 years later… or wait until shadowlands where you can pick an expansion to level thru 10-50. Or go turn your xp off not much else to help you your starting to sound like an entitled whiner. The quests and story is meaningful outside of bfa as that 9-10 years old.
I think it is clear that we don’t approach the game in the same way.
The quests and the story is as meaningful as the wit you bring to it. That’s the beauty of a virtual world. Your inner landscape and how you express that through your character’s development is the real content - what Blizzard does is to provide the backdrop.
I hope you enjoy Shadowlands and good gaming to you.
The quest and story for old content is meaningless win the next expansion comes hate to tell you lvl 30-35 content hasn’t been meaningful since vanilla yes we do have diffrent philosophies I like playing the game and you are worrying about content from 2004…
I just hope the lfd queues are fixed in SL. I want to access all or nearly all (some level unlocking is fine; dungeons locked by xpac or in separate queues in the 10-50 bracket are not).
I’m going to pray to Elune that this is your posting character and not your main, to be implying that I don’t “play the game”. One can do both, after all. >.<
It’s all good. Vive la difference, no? Just remember, on any given day, we all have more in common, than not.
