FOR SCIENCE.
Don’t disrespect snoop!!!
Some selections from my most recent gametime playlist:
I loved Wednesday Campanella’s KOM_I and wasn’t sure I’d like Utaha, but her vocal style has grown on me. The new album, Neon, is great.
A bit of retro flourish in Capsule’s latest album, Metro Pulse. “Starry Night” (another song from the same album) sounds more like a Perfume song than a Capsule song, which makes me wonder if Yasutaka had initially meant for it to be for them.
A little salyu x salyu blended in for good measure. This project was a joint effort between Salyu and Cornelius (people of a certain age might remember Cornelius’ song “Drop” from his 2001 album Point). The 2011 album S(o)un(d)beams is worth a listen for something a little more avant-garde.
Every release by Sakanaction has made me enjoy them even more, and last year’s Adapt album is no exception. Love Yamaguchi’s voice.
Old is a state of mind.
If I’m grinding something then I listen to a YouTube video or a podcast, sometimes an audiobook, otherwise I just listen to the in-game music.
Listening to the new Used album the last week or so. Usually some post-hardcore/metalcore though.
Nothing really. I’ve always felt like wows music was great
Mostly Rap rock and EDM, my fav Japanese rap and rock <3 https://youtu.be/3fAu79uJOx8
I go heavy with some Andromida and other simular music without vocals.
Example if anyones interested:
dancing queen by abba on loop
This is gonna sound super weird but I kind of laid off listening to music because I used to put anything I liked on forever repeat until long years later it’s still stuck in my head.
Music I now find dumb, yet still flawlessly stuck in my head, really drives me bonkers. I tend to listen to podcasts or youtube docs when I play.
A lot of my old music doesn’t do anything for me anymore yet I’m old so therefore anything new is bizarre and alien to me. I can still listen to Skinny Puppy very rarely, but I think that’s because noise music like that is almost impossible to stick in your head.
I mean last week, all week, I had the same five lines of epic rap battles of history floating around rent free in my brain. All because I got drunk one night and listened to it again for the first time in years.
Shoulda never done that, never should’ve looped the same stuff eight bazillion times over multi-year periods, in hindsight I’m not sure what I thought was going to happen.
Last time I listened to the playlist from the Netflix show 1899, there are some nice classics there
I put on my favourite paranormal/scary stories podcast.
There is gaming music?
A switch to something different. When I was a wee little lad my folks would play his songs endlessly as we drove in Europe:

I play with game sounds “off” and usually just listen to a streamer or talkshow/podcast in the background
For talkshows/podcasts I find that any “long form” multi-hour format works well for a gaming session:
I’m also a big fan of “bingeing” entire Youtube channels in the background (opening an interesting Youtuber, then just setting it to playlist while I listen to his videos 1 by 1)
And of course, twitch streamers are also excellent background noise I’ve listened to sooooo many hours of twitch streamers in the background over the years
