What do you think will be the "big" reveal they save for end of blizzcon

So hoping for this this time, as I do every expansion reveal! :crossed_fingers:t2:

I hope it is the next WoW expansion teaser. I would freaking cry if I see Anduin come back to lead us :sob: 🩵 miss him lol

Sadly, they pretty much said they were done with Starcraft franchise. The game is in maintenance mode at this point. Looking forward to Stormgate though. New RTS from Frost Giant Studios. Going to be available on Steam. Developed on the Unreal engine also, should be pretty anyways lol.

Supposedly, there are some people at Microsoft who are big on RTSes so maybe it’ll get a new life when/if the UK finally gets the stick out of its butt about the merger?

I dunno, I’m basically a Cubs fan over here grasping at straws, but it eventually worked for them so :dracthyr_shrug: ?

Correct me if I’m wrong but how is Classic+ even a thing since it’s a hypothesized community inspired game mode? Has blizzard ever commented on it maybe becoming a reality?

Well, now it’s back to the FTC having the stick up their rears. After spinning off their cloud-gaming rights in the UK and EU to Ubisoft, the CMA has given a preliminary approval of the deal. However, the FTC has revived their challenge to the deal. While they can’t stop it, they want to try and undo it after the fact.

Hope so. First games I ever played on a pc was the Command & Conquer games, and Starcraft, so yeah I’m a big fan of the rts genre. Frost Giants Studios new one Stormgate is supposed to have a very good campaign, and co op feature. They are former Starcraft devs, so hoping it will be good :crossed_fingers:

My dream is 2.0 that will delete retail and classic, move everyone’s stuff to a new engine with horizontal progression. Nothing in the experiences will change, but the world wouldn’t be barren. Chances this will be done are nonexistent though, and I think that’s unfortunate. I’m afraid of the divided server snowballing and miss the old days. We need immersion back. Nostalgia solves nothing, and in both retail and classic the content is ephemeral. If 2.0 does what I suggested WoW won’t only be “saved”, but our competition will be crushed for good.

Hope Blizzcon is going to be about, D4 expansion, Overwatch Expansion, Rumble, Heathstone expansion, WoW expansion, and Classic+. Cata classic would just be a facepalm. They really think people gonna play an all era progressive server like EverQuest? That really what they wanna be doing with Classic? Nothing after Wrath is classic at all, just polish the Cata+ content on retail.

I’ve heard some iffy things about them. Not that they’re bad devs, but that they have a really big scope and a not-that-big Kickstarter for it. Hopefully they don’t bite off more than they can chew.

That’s why I’d love to have a big player like MS/Blizz come back in for a fresh start, they have the resources to make a big game that can actually come out sometime this decade.

(Although given the history of the Starcraft franchise, it probably won’t.)

The closest thing I can see to the wishful " Classic+ " is large events/scenarios regarding what is already there. The Hardcore bit is a perfect example. However, it could be said that Classic is at a bit of a dead end given that Cata is next in line, which unraveled what made the “good ol’ days” good playing.

The closest thing to doing anything related to a Classic+ would be to “Classify” Cata and future expansions. Open world and gameplay and the basic flow of the expansion really could not change. Things implemented in Cata that made life easy could be held back. For instance, not reworking dungeons, not merging mounts account wide, not merging abilities (paying to learn each tier), caring ammo, feeding pets, teaching pets, not changing the talent tree structure . . . and so forth.

I feel like most people would be okay with skipping Cata, but Cata is the stepping stone to MoP, and a fair amount of people would probably give MoP Classic a go.

… and by the time we get there, there’d probably be enough people excited about a Legion Classic.

Doubt if anyone would care about anything after that though.

Personally I do think they should stop it here with WotLK. Vanilla->WotLK is a clear Legacy Era, and while Cata->WoD is kind of it’s own “era”, the difference between it and modern WoW is insignificant compared to Vanilla->WotLK vs Cata onward.

The concept of “Classic+” is interesting, but I don’t think Blizzard has the manpower to devote to such a thing. At least not that they’d be willing to put toward that instead of other projects.

This man still hasnt realised OSRS.
You will eat your words.

Doubtful. But I’ll admit it if I am wrong. There are very few similarities between Rune Scape and WoW and I feel confident that Classic WoW will never get the same treatment.
