What do you miss about WoW?

Lol. Wouldn’t count Sargeras out just yet. Coming soon to a future expansion near you. just when you thought the Burning Legion was finished, the creators of world of warcraft. The company that brought back/rehashed the firelord Ragnaros, now a not so new threat returns to decimate Azeroth! Nah he just wants his sword back  World Of Warcraft The Burning Legion Crusade 3.0!

I miss the gear drops. Greens. blues, grapes…
I am not a fan of gathering items to meld with other items to free Bob the giant to get more materials and farm with 20K other people in hopes metallic bigbang drops so I can melt it in a volcano and form a rivet to go into first phase of my gloves… /cut throat.
Honestly, if I wanted to be an engineer I would have gone to university to become one.
I want to play a video game that used to drop gear that would sometimes be an upgrade.
I do not enjoy carrying a thousand weirdly named items to make gear eventually.

Leveling in wrath of the lich king alone was pretty awesome. And relatively fast to boot. But i miss having to use my brain. I just do not get the same sentiments leveling up a toon in retail wow now that i did in wrath.

Monks were really fun to be honest. I loved going brewmaster and throwing beer kegs at people lol. Even now monks are still fun. I am always looking forward and welcome to a new class addition. Played the heck out of death knights, and demon hunters were also really fun to play. I guess i am just that type of person that likes to play all the classes.

ALthough warlocks are my least favorite. Fun but usually the last class i think about leveling up.

I miss zone progression which made me feel like I was getting stronger and better at my class.

I miss the slower leveling where the levels were hard won and therefore actually meant something.

But most of all, I miss the amazing adventuring of pre-WoD where I meandered here and then there and then anywhere at my own whim and learned the World’s little stories as well as big. It was beautiful and mighty.

P. S. And I miss when immersion was a real thing. WoD and later really killed that too.

I miss different armor sets. There are so many pieces from vanilla! Now, it’s just the same, boring set just in a different color. I also miss the stories/ quests dealing with Scarlet Crusade or Defias.

I dont even play warlock anymore but the I miss the old chaos bolt animation and old animations in general. Damn did they look awesome…

How chill the game used to be outside rated PvP.
Everything is a competition now. You have to go fast, because it’s now by the game’s design. Don’t do certain things now? Gone forever. Used to be if you were good, you got things before everybody else, and people still looked up to you for it.

It’s just made the whole experience miserable, and most of this stuff isn’t exactly hard to me. It’s just not fun.

The mindset has seeped into content it doesn’t belong in.
Watching my mage friend get cussed out for not doing enough damage, and that a M0 Mists took “too long” despite it being completed in under 15 minutes was the most stupid thing I’ve seen in a while, and it’s been happening non-stop in every other group I’m in that I bring my friends who aren’t skilled at the game.

I just want the game to chill the hell out already

MoP dest lock. Running around casting incinerate was a blast and dps was good too unlike how it is currently.

I miss Vanilla and BC era but only because of the people I played with. Since we put in sooo many hours from leveling and raiding as we pushed content and cleared each tier well before the next tier, we all bonded and just grew close and had tons of fun. Those memories I will never forget along with all the laughs etc.

As for game play, I miss BfA. I know it is only 1 expansion ago, but I actually really enjoyed it. I loved the leveling as it was the first expansion I actually loved every zone but mostly since I love horror movies having Drustvar was the cherry on top. Loved that zone and easily one of my all time favs in all expansions/vanilla and I loved Waycrest Manor as the dungeons since after BC have gotten more and more meh. First expansion with a raid where you got to play the other faction too for a few bosses.

I also loved the Boralus hub and music. I love to just chill there for the music and reminisce as well as the Wrath Dalaran as that is my fav music as well.

I miss a lot of things but this morning I miss when they weren’t trying to force WoW into being an esport and pushing timed content.

I wish I could play the alliance without a gigantic faction gap

I miss the feeling of being connected to the story, the players and the world.

I agree with some posts, here, that this feeling left as soon as the story and grind went from world to cosmic and the grind went from exploration to instanced content.

As many here do, I miss when crafting had an impact, even when it required rare material to make, the satisfying layer it added was, well, dreamy.

I miss when gear wasn’t generic with random stats, but had meaning and could change how a spec played (gear sets), mixing and matching to get the feel you wanted for your character.

I miss the connection that WoW nourished and communication streams they once had - even if poor ghost crawler got thrown under the bus like Ion does, it was more regular updates and feedback with the community.

I miss the immersion I used to feel. I may have despised the main story in BfA but I could ignore it pretty easily because the world was amazing. The zone specific quest chains were engaging and I felt a connection and love for many of the NPCs. I don’t have that in Shadowlands. The story is far too overreaching to ignore. I can’t get past the feeling of “We shouldn’t be here”.

I can’t remember when I stopped doing PvP, but I miss it and not feeling like I was getting murdered left and right. lol I used to run random BGs quite often on my own. Now I don’t. :frowning:

I miss the grind not feeling like a grind.

I miss a better, more friendly, and less toxic community. People can jump me for this and might, but thats what I miss. There used to be some really kind and genuine folks all over this game. Now its mostly negativity, pissy comments, take stuff away/what about mE?¿/and rude fighting. Ive been wondering for some time where everyone has gone but the answer to that has become more obvious.

“What do you miss about WoW?”

At this point? Nothing at all. I’m glad I’m out the door. Like it or not, Classic iterations will never bring back the feel and community of the game from when I enjoyed it, and Retail WoW has nothing for me.

I miss alt-friendliness.

Someone replied to me in a thread “You don’t want to play an alt, you want to play a second main”… and I thought “Yeah, and?”. WoD, for its faults, let me play alts (to be fair that was the only other content in the game - doing the same raid but with an alt). Actually, even 9.0 let me play alts.

9.1 has some awesome content, and I get the idea of Stygian Embers, but like, god damn, Blizzard, please, let me play my alts. Let’s chill on these grinds, let’s migrate all existing grinds to seasonal capped grinds with catch-up mechanics, let’s make Stygian Embers and Dom Socket gear more approachable, so forth.

This patch is good, but not “Play one character for eight months” good. This patch is going to suffer if we don’t get alt friendliness in 9.1.5.
