I was actually fine with it being in LFR, but the forum reaction to it being removed changed my mind.
Like, the effort expended on this topic is easily less effort than just trying Normal out.

If LFR was less gutted and closer reflected Cata/mop lfr, i’d probably be more for having the slime cat in lfr.
Fact of the matter is lfr is a neglected joke that’s only real reason to exist at this point is for more transmog colors. It’s stripped of anything actually challenging, and at this point they need to either make it purely story mode content, or make it a better introduction to raiding.
I don’t personally believe it has anything to do with casual players getting the mount. I think its more or less the mount loses it prestige if given out for completion of LFR which in the grand scheme of things, in comparison… isn’t a real accomplishment in a lot of peoples eyes… I’m just happy its not tied to mythic like it always has been, and have an actual chance at getting it. I feel its accessible enough to those that care enough to go do a normal raid.
tl;dr
It’s a great mount, if not earned; it holds no meaning and is no longer special to have.

My solution:
Leave the green kitty for normal players
Make a yellow kitty for LFR and then good geared experienced raiders/collectors will be encouraged to join LFR and can help guide people
LFR players are getting a reward and might learn something from other more experienced raiders.
Simple solution and who knows people may get their yellow LFR kitty and venture into normals and get the green one!

If you search my post history, you’ll see I’m hugely anti-FOMO. The fact this mount is only in for a season annoys me.
What bothers me at the core regarding this issue is the refusal to try anything outside of LFR. People are trying desperately to make huge waves about a non-issue. It’s like trying to get a young kid to try a new food. They wig out until they try it, then it’s often not nearly as bad as they were anticipating.
