So you kill one in ten? Seems like an odd way to wage a war and a waste of all those advantages.
He’s actively stopping the other guy from playing the game the way HE wants.
It’s his right. Both parties rolled on a PvP server so it’s not against any rules. But it sucks for the lowbie.
And yeah, I’m inclined to believe that people who regularly engage in this sort of behavior have some…issues. But I’d rather they express those issues in WoW vs. real life.
Based™!
I never see content like this though. I figured it’d be way more popular but it seems the vast majority hate it for some reason. I guess we’re just different than the others.
I dislike lowbie ganking, however if I’m leveling my alt and a lowbie decides to gank me I will switch onto my main and mercilessly gank them until they log out or leave the area I’m questing/farming in. I’m not above creating a deterrent.
I kill anyone and everyone without prejudice. I don’t go out of my way looking for lowbies, but I’ve experienced first hand that the Horde do it when I’m on an alt, so I just return the favor. I never corpse camp and never kill anyone more than once, even a level 60, unless they attack me first upon rezzing.
Eh, people are gonna do what they want to get the kicks they want. It’s a video game. Anyone who’s played any GTA and says they don’t sometimes just go crazy trying to get max stars is a liar. I’ve spent entire sleepovers back in school passing the controller around just stirring up as much crap in Vice City as possible. Doesn’t mean I’m some sadistic psychopath now.
This guy gets it.
waste of time. kinda pathetic as well if your going to play on a pvp server at least attack someone who has a chance of fighting back.
in retail i see 2 horde ganking 1 person, i can jump in and easily kill them but i don’t they at least have a chance to 2v1 is they are good.
the weak should fear the strong.
that lvl 31 undead warlock berpaderping around in stranglethorn vale? fire the orbital laser cannon
I don’t.
There is no point in it, they are worth no honor or anything.
They can not even hurt me.
I’d want more people My level to PVP with, who aren’t in shoddy busted gear, and they will never become that if i run about camping them to death.
Look at realms that became near emptied of a faction due to nonsense like that.
Yes and war has a loser, who never comes back to play again.
And then the game is over, for good.
We have a number of realms where the game is over for good already.
You want more?
You enjoy it because you lose to any player who remotely stands a chance, Swoletrashcan.
Most pvpers will probably just gank you and move on. Us horde did it to allies a lot in p2. Allies did it as well.
I dont mind lowbie ganking but there is a fine line between ganking and corpse camping, one is pvp the other is straight up harrassment…BUT I’m not gonna get into that because there’s a lot of nochanges people here and they’ll start insulting me.
Ganking is a fun way to build rivalry though. I even remember the very first guy who ganked me back in 2005 when I first got into a pvp area…Hillsbrand. NE rogue named Darkslave who was probably 60 and I was only 20 or 30 sumthing. Months later after I finally hit 60 and started raiding, ran into him in STV or BB or something and killed him.
I don’t really attack anyone below my level unless they attack first or happen to be part of a raid we’re trying to wipe.
You won’t improve as a player if you don’t challenge yourself, and it feels a lot nicer to win some epic 4v1 or beat a player out that severely outgears you than it does to sit around trying to make other people as miserable as you.
I feel bad for horde on Skeram and Stalagg, not even a chance to develope any good guild rivalries that will last into later Classic expansions. I guess that’s fine if you’re a PVE focused guild though.
I’ll gank anyone that gives honor. Lowbies too low to even offer that generally get left alone. The exception would be if they are killing Alliance lowbies. Then they are fair game regardless of level.
One of the best memories of classic for me so far started when I first arrived at Burning Steppes, and I got camped by a lvl 60 Dwarf Hunter at Dreadmaul Rock while trying to find KromGrul for the quest.
I was level 50-51 at the time, so I guess I wasn’t a lowbie, but this was before Phase 2 dropped so there wasn’t honor at that time.
Anyways, ~4 weeks later after I hit 60 and had farmed a lot of my pre-BIS (technically BIS for warriors at the time given no PVP gear and few pieces in MC), I was doing some mining/herb loops around Steppes and ran into that very same hunter while he was farming some mobs.
I camped him for around 3 hours, and it felt so good to get that revenge.
Anyways on the subject of killing lowbies, I typically don’t; server populations are already strained on the alliance side on many servers without griefing the allliance players leveling.
When they get to 60 though, they’re fair game, and at this point most of the people I fight in world PVP are either in STV or BRM or around the Black Lotus paths.
Its hilarious to me but I also play an undead rogue and Im not often a victim to being ganked so perhaps Im a bit biased
Anyhoo, always enjoyed your content, keep up the good work.
Boring af.
This is a good story and shows the importance of healthy faction balance in order to keep the spirit of PVP alive on a server.
I vividly remember duking it out with 2 horde that out leveled me by a bit in Tanaris during the first race to 60…for 9+ hours - none of us got any quests done - it was great.
I still remember their names, sadly Stalagg is a dead server and I’ve no idea if they still play.
By comparison I remember very little of the actual leveling process that related to anything without player interaction.
Yeah, I will say that my server has felt far more alive in the past 2 months on the alliance side than it did in November-January. I see alliance out competing for Black Lotuses and such which was virtually non-existent for 2-3 months after Phase 2 dropped.
I see a lot of alliance more willing to do farming loops and I see a lot more hitting level 50-55 as I’m out doing my farming. That’s a good thing.
I just think for horde players right now on imbalanced servers, it’s generally not a good idea to be griefing leveling alliance players unless they’re ganking people. A lot of servers could use more high level alliance players to help bring more life to the world.
It’s okay to kill somebody lower leveled once, but turning it into a multi-hour griefing is just going to discourage the other player and make them more likely to quit (especially on imbalanced PVP servers), and a lot of servers need every alliance player they can get to hit 60.
