What do you genuinely think of frost right now?

Dont forget its also a boring mastery problem that just increases Frost damage as well. Mastery and versatility are both boring stats and lazy design, at least when it comes to Frost.

Yeah it sucks, Frost DK has only gotten worse in retail over the past several years. It was literally unbearably awful leveling up my 2 frost DKs in SL, in normie gear they were hitting well below my retpal and my DH, and at 60 with all the ZM gear they were still hitting way, way below my retpal and DH.

Raiderbros here though will tell you Frost DK is awesome and nothing’s wrong because they pwnz0rz in raids with all the raid gear powerups. For us normies though, Frost DK is B-tier sliding into C-tier, and really just not any fun anymore

Breath of sindragosa sucks

I don’t like where damage is allocated within the core rotation. For a direct damage spec, there’s too much setup, not enough priority damage. Breath of Sindagosa is a parasite talent that heavily affects the tuning of the entire baseline spec. The buttons feel way too floaty and weak for how few they are. I think it’s important to look at relative impact of each GCD. Baseline Obliterates and Frost Strikes do such a trivial amount of damage, it’s just not a fun and responsive feeling spec.

I feel like when baseline Obliterate, frost’s lowest priority but default filler spender, does less damage than Festering Strike, Unholy’s builder, it’s a good indication of the state of things, from a game feel perspective.

Frost is one of the very few specs in the game that needs a full rework.

BoS isnt the cause of Frosts issues.

Obliterate low baseline damage is directly caused by Frostreaper (formally KM rank 2). We can see right when Obliterate took a nerf and it was after KM rank 2 was introduced.

Frost Strike has Shattering Strikes now, really only a DW talent since it can make more use of it through faster RI stacks, but its going to be increasing Frost Strike by 100% if you ignore the BoS build.

HB has Rime pumping a lot of damage into it as well.

BoS can be used with Obliteration now as well and if you build for trying to get Rime procs regularly it will help Obliteration windows since you can drop Frost Strike from the window and rely more on HB and Rime procs.

Frost doesnt need a full rework, it just the playerbase has made suggestions that have a negative consequence that they didnt think about and stuck their fingers in their ears when someone did say what would happen if that change was implemented. They pushed for it (KM rank 2 im looking at you) and then Obliterates damage was cut down due to the massive overhead the change had. 14x the base damage is pretty massive when it used to be just 2x from it being a crit.

False.

Frostreaper is 100% the issue because it locks the entire spec’s damage behind Killing Machine. When Obliterate goes from 25k~ to 100k off an RNG proc that you get every 6-10s~, that sort of forces everything else to not deal reasonable damage.

Not really. If they wanted Obliterate to scale with mastery there are cleaner, healthier ways to achieve that, such as putting a CD on Obliterate and having Rune Strike/Blood Strike be the “filler” instead.

Frostreaper is basically mandatory. No matter what build you take if you dont take it you leave way too much on the table.

This change has had more consequences than just nerfing Obliterate as well that no one wants to talk about.

Mind-numbingly boring and simplistic. Even Demon Hunters have more skills and synergy of skills than we do.

Edit a word

There’s no spec with, say, 10 skills that are constantly being used in combat. Gameplay changes accordingly, of course, but there are lots of classes and specs to try out if frost isn’t your thing right now. If none works out, I don’t know, try chess?

Im happy with it so far. The fact i can still spec into 2H + BoS makes me happy.

I don’t care the much for obliteration as a frost 2H DK.
