I don’t care how my friends look but I do get mad when they aren’t elves and wolfmen irl ngl ong
I always assume belf/velf players are not the the most attractive irl and that’s why they choose the race they choose.
Define ugly.
Then define beauty.
Then think about how much you like them, talking with them, hanging out with them.
Those 3 things should help you find your answer for any time someone asks you something so dumb.
Another way to do this is to ask them those questions and when they finally answer, tell them it’s a dumb question mostly because it’s an unfair question.
I get disappointed when I find out that the bear people I talk to online aren’t really fast typing bears irl.
Reality is so sad sometimes.
I’d go with something like ‘Its not up to me to judge about looks, tastes vary, based on person, culture, the times…’ Or ‘Beauty is subjective, you should be happy with yourself before trying to please anyone else in that regard’ or ‘Mind and soul and heart should mean more to people then just looks, its really not my place to say. Judge yourself based on your own metric and comfort.’
ouch.
i felt that.
If someone is so stupid to ask such a stupid question then I would give them a completely honest answer.
Don’t ask questions you don’t want the answer to.
It’s jarring to have our preconceptions of someone shattered when presented with the truth. Have you ever read a book and formed a mental image of the characters? It’s the same thing. Something to latch on to other than a voice. Can’t blame yourself for it, we all do subconsciously. Unfortunate that the wrong words slipped out, but that might be more a symptom of your personality when meeting new people than guessing someone’s face looked differently.
Interesting fact. You can’t call something ugly if it’s not a mutation. I wish everyone in this thread had fewer friends like OP.
people get easily depressed these days
This sounds like the kind of thing that only happens in the imagination of a forum user desperately fishing for reactions.
Ooops ![]()
Lie.
I only like to hurt feelings when the person deserves it and has it coming.
I’ll lie thru my teeth if they havent done anything wrong.
find something positive to say instead of being honest.
Everyone of us can look a little better with a different hair style and a nice shirt/top.
we’re all mutants.
people are ugly.
excuse me, but as a bear main, I assure you I am also an actual bear IRL.
rawr
yeah, in that kind of situation just dont let appearances factor into it if youre trying not to hurt their feelings.
Just tell them youre not into dating anyone right now. You have some personal things going on in your life and need to take a long while to get things resolved before you’d ever allow yourself to get involved romantically.
You can tell them you really enjoy their friendship and dont want to lose that.
Yeah, its still gonna disappoint them, but its not going to make them feel lesser as a person…or being rejected because of their looks.
I refuse to answer questions like that. It’s not a fair question. Instead I tell the person that they don’t need mine or anyone else’s validation or permission to be a part of this world. ![]()
“You look fine to me, why do you ask?” … is a possible choice.
After all, you are answering a stupid question.
Of course it all depends on how well you know this person. If it’s just someone you play a game with online once in a while, stay casual. If on the other hand you develop a deep friendship, well that’s different.
“You don’t want my honest opinion let’s just play the game.”
Or
“You look like something that’s for sure, so what dungeon we doing?”
Finally
“Why do you care what I think about your looks ? We play a game together we aren’t sleeping together… wait are you about to drop a bomb on me?”
- I mean that is honest not very tactful but you want honest there you go.
I like this answer best as it gets directly to the root of their problem and shows them a different way of thinking about this so it’s something they can use later, when they’re asking themselves these kinds of questions.
