What counts as griefing on Consumption? (Korthia Rare)

Not sure what this is you are all going on about but it reminds me of the SL Pre-Patch up in Northrend. There was a daily to pick mushrooms parts or something. If you killed mobs near the mushrooms they would grow and reward you more parts. So there I am trying to grow a shroom when some random swoops in and starts killing the mushroom before I can get it to grow. Or better yet someone from the opposite faction tagging every mushroom and standing by watching as we kill them for him in order to reset them

I guess it was foreshadowing

Maybe the mob should just one shot people that attack it before the first 40 stacks, after that it’s fair game.

So there is a mob in Korthia that is basically designed for griefing / frustrating players.

When it spawns, initially, it is NOT rare at all, and drops poor loot. It needs to do an RP mechanic where it basically kills a bunch of critters and “consumes” them for stacks.

Then at a certain number (40?) He will transform into a non-elite rare, giving slightly better loot.

If you still wait, he will build even more stacks transforming into an elite rare, giving the best loot.

But
everyone needs to agree to wait, horde and alliance alike, so that he can do his RP mechanic and build stacks. if you engage him at all he doesn’t build stacks, only while he is out of combat.

Now, the saving grace is that this mob has a very short leash. If you have a determined monk or DK, they can taunt the mob over and reset him, and he will attempt to start building stacks again.

But
 gee
if say a warrior stands on where he spawns and starts attacking him immediately every time, the mob can’t build stacks.

The warrior you mentioned was griefing.

I think most people are either ignorant of the stacking requirement and/or desperate to fill up their stupid weekly meter so they jump on every starred mob they see.

So the whole Mushroom thing all over lol

Is it part of the dailies in Korthia?

In Maldraxxus thereʻs that Color mixing slime quest.
For the most part, I try to help build 15/15 red/blue to spawn the purple boss. But, if I am in a hurry and just want to get the WQ done, i will put in whatever damn color i have on hand to finish and move on. Not trying to grief per se, just doing my dailies.

I’m sure this doesn’t happen in War mode.

Who uses war mode at lvl 60?
aside from those who camp low level questing areas

Well, folks that don’t want their Consumption griefed by a single Orc Warrior, I imagine.

and if that single Orc warrior is not in War Mode?

Then he wouldn’t be griefing your Consumption, because you ARE in War mode.

this happened to me a couple days ago.
it was also an orc warrior. name started with a D, I think. don’t really remember.

he’d keep it in combat by throwing his weapon at it the second it reset, then run around in circles not hitting it. went on for about 40 minutes.

it’s an awful design for a rare out in the world that anyone can hit.

Ill take your word for it
i see folks in PVP running around while i am on PVE so i didnt know that there were specifically different instances

That’s different. You can flag PvP in PvE mode. In War mode, everyone is in PvP mode and it’s a separate plane of existence.

no. he has 3 forms.

form one, he spawns in
form two, the rare form he gets after 40 stacks
form three, the final form where he drops the most loot.

the people resetting him after he already had the 40 stack form were trying to get him to that final form.

because some chucklehead kept pulling him. he gets stacks by not being in combat and consuming the critters he spawns. when people pull him, it interrupts that process.

I dont think either is griefing in the eyes of the ToS, but that doesn’t make the warrior any less of a jerk.

game “technically” allows any form of griefing.

Intentionally resetting something that another player is trying to defeat before it gets stronger sounds more like griefing.

Blizzard is trying to get us to focus our toxicity more towards ourselves instead of them. Don’t fall for their plan!

He’s trying to kill a mob. If he’s happy to kill at no stacks it’s fIr game

Blizzard, for making THIS the mechanic to access the better loot from the rare. We had a hardmode encounter in Mechagon with the rec-rig, but its activation only required someone to do something; it didn’t require an entire zone of people to coordinate, with a single scab breaking rank ruining it for literally everyone else.
