IMHO the best Class for Void Elf is Rogue.
Because there are three Classes that use Void Magic: Priests, Warlocks and Rogues
But Priests also use Holy Magic, which is the opposite of Void Magic, so I don’t like it.
Warlocks are better than Priests for Void Elves, IMHO, but they use a lot more Fel Magic than Void Magic. It’s better, because Fel isn’t the opposite of Void, but it’s not MUCH better.
A Rogue on the other hand either uses Void Magic, or no Magic at all! So if you play Sub Rogue it will play right into your racial flavor, and if you play any of the other two specs, at least they won’t get in any sort of conflict with your racial flavor.
Thought they used Shadow.

When referring to WoW magic, Shadow and Void are synonyms.
(When referring to physics, however, a shadow is an area that receives a low amount of light rays and a void is a volume of low pressure lol)

Honestly I think a lot of this would be solved if Mages had a Shadow/Void tree.

Went shadow priest and never looked back.
I have 3 max level void elves.
A priest, a warlock, and a monk.
All of them are pretty sweet combos.
Pure void cant exist in the physical realm. It can only manifest diluted down, such as shadow magic, or adjoined with other magic, like shadow flame or shadow frost. So basically the closet you get to void is shadow priest due to the potency of the shadow.
How does it ruin the void form? My troll priest, who used to be Lightforged Draenei, who uses the glyph her void form looks no different from my void elf priest in her void form and she does not use the glyph. Unless you mean going from not very shadowy to full void doesn’t seem like a natural transition.
Also, you don’t really need to be in shadowform unless you’re in combat. And even then, if you’re doing legacy content or are geared enough and doing stuff in the open world, you can get away with no shadowform. Raids, dungeons, PvP, world bosses, yeah you’ll need shadowform.
I went Shadow Priest on mine because sometimes the obvious, basic option is fun.

Hmm, yeah, I see what you mean. You would think would make separate glyphs to change shadowform and voidform separately. I never noticed the difference in colors because I’m normally too busy trying to keep it going, but I get how it’s the little things that can be the most bothersome, especially with visuals.
i have VE lock, s priest, mage, hunter, monk… they all fit to me
Warlock is good. Sure, destro uses fire. But all three specs have shadow in their arsenal.
Mage is good. Frost mage specifically. They have a racial that adds shadowfrost damage. Thematically the cold and void go well together.
Sub rogue. Lots of shadow magic at play there.
Hunter. They’re still elves. They still have rangers.
