Back then I used to play only shooters with my buddies until one of them gave me his Warcraft III disks. I played it and after doing the campaign and seeing that cinematic with the Lich King ascending, I felt like, I don’t know, sad it was over. Then the same guy who gave me the CDs told me there’s an endless Warcraft game, I tried it and here I am. Still…

Family and friends, but we all mostly played it for “the world” itself.
Vanilla was absolutlely huge.
No WoW expansion has come close in terms of total landmass, Vanilla dwarves everything that came after it.
Which makes sense- it was the foundation after all.
It’s just sad to me that WoW is a lobby-based game now more than anything.
The world as a whole is wasted, unless you count the bubble we live in that’s the current expansion.
I fondly remember fighting in Blackrock Mountain for control, fighting over world bosses, city raids, all that kind of stuff.
Sitting in capital cities replaced all of that, lmao.

The very first day i started playing WoW i was addicted. I played for 12 hours on day 1.

For me, it was a total accident. I used to play D2 and hated how neglected it felt because WoW took off and blizztards just ignored the game. Well, my ex wife got a free trial and I gave it a shot on a forsaken rogue and was hooked.

I like other was into gaming of all sorts. My online gameplay started back on the original Xbox. I got that for christmas one year and a copy of Halo 2. Found a few friends on there. One day one of them started playing WoW. He kept telling us how much fun it was so eventually we all bought it and started playing. There was about 10 of us at the start. None are left but myself. Been playing pretty much ever since.

I watched my older brother play and was a bit bored of a giant cow throwing lightning, but once he visited the major cities, and showed me world PvP (in it’s prime) I was immediately sold.

saw it in walmart around 04-06 started in the middle of the war effort on my server dont know the exact year. lol just wanted to have a game on a emachine lol and i was in middle/high school

Fr though I was playing dark age of Camelot, EverQuest 2 and FFXIV, WoW came out and I tried it out, decided I liked it so I had to pick a game.

was all my friends in highschool were talking about when it came out and i eventually got into it myself.
they have all since quit and i only see/talk to one of them anymore
I was hanging out with a college friend that I used to play Dark Age of Camelot with, and he mentioned that he’d started playing a new game called World of Warcraft and he thought I’d like it.
This was right around the time that Dire Maul came out.

What got me addicted to the Warcrack was IRL co-workers who played, and they roped me in in 2008. Most have since quit, but I got my hubby into it, and here we area still casual goofing off in WoW!

What got me into wow was an MMO called star wars galaxies. When that game died wow was published so me and my bro got into WoW instead. Been playing since 2005.

a really close friend and I played Asheron’s Call. we were looking for something new, and he got into Beta - when wow went live, he got me to buy it - and it has been with me since - made a lot of friends in game that I had the pleasure of meeting outside of the game in person, and met my now wife of 11 years raiding in mount Hyjal.
- My cousins and I were visiting my grandparents one summer and we played the trial version on their computers and I started out playing as an Undead Warlock. Never looked back since.

Some of my highschool circle got caught me up in it right before BC launch. Decided to bite the bullet at the midnight release.
