What Are Your Best Griefing Strategies?

That’s not even clever its just annoying. If your gonna be a jerk at least have style.

I don’t grief. But some very sadistic people like to tell beginners to look behind a fireplace in a certain mountain instance. (don’t fall for it).

Really mean thing to do to someone. (thing burns like ragnaros)

Step 1: Role rogue
Step 2: Enjoy!

Can’t cast Curse of Doom on players in vanilla.

When you get mindcontrolled by an NPC you can be.

My best griefing strategy? Not really into griefing people but…

Take one of my 29 warrior twinks to STV in a full hit set with a hit elixr active cruise around until someone tries to gank me then beat them into submission. If they are yellow to me one beat down is enough, if they are orange its at least 4 deaths for them. If they are red? or a skull? Camp until they log.

Problem is that will not viable in classic, no exp off no victory rush etc, but it was great fun back in WoTLK hello panda island hug along and Snore more in garrisonor, kept me playing wow.

Make a guild called <_________ Trainer> and park yourself near a hub in a lowbie zone.

Fill in the blanks with your favorite class.

This is pretty much akin to putting on some khakis and a blue polo shirt and hanging out at Best Buy.

Players were never DKs.

If you mean NPCs, I’m unsure; I killed lowbies with my infernal during vanilla, but I don’t recall the aura ticking unless I dismissed it (turning it hostile.)

By definition I’m not a griefer as I don’t find it to be a reasonable use of my time but some of the suggestions here are pretty dang funny.

I don’t lose my cool when I get griefed. It’s all part of the experience, I like standing as a ghost seeing how long I can get a person to camp probably more than they enjoy trying to camp me. If we’re gonna waste time I’ll light up a smoke, kick back, and just see who has the iron will in that contest.

I used to play a real simple pvp game that was even funnier because you could run to safe zones and just stay in them as long as you wanted if you had the cash (I did), used to have a lot of fun watching guys wait and wait for me to come out, often screaming threats.

If you want to try to waste my time, I’m gonna try to waste your time, just sayin’.

I guess when I grief, I’m a very patient grief-the-griefer kind of cat.

Hehheh, make the guild name -Guild Bank- and have 2 or 3 guildies hang out in Tanarus with the real bank NPCs.

How can you be unflagged and also be attackable? Are you sure it wouldn’t be better for an alliance druid to do that and bait unsuspecting horde lowbies into clicking on you?

On my rogue, I dont just gank in duskwood, I wait till they get as deep as possible into the underground cemetary area (forget the name). And THEN I strike!

Makes for a very long runback, and a long trip through tons of mobs (that respawn) for higher level help to come! >:3

You could sap them when you know Mor’ladim is about to come by.

Edit: Oh no. What have I done. D:

My best griefing strategy? Joining a PVE server.

Viper stinging/CCing a mage trying to aoe farm and letting them die to the mobs they pulled, or just viper stinging casters in general. I won’t mess with the aoe grinding mages on my faction though, hell I might even drop a frost trap to help them out when I pass by.

Someone mentioned the fireplace initiation. Reminds me of other initiations to certain dungeons and raids. Like telling people you get a higher chance to loot rares and epics in scholo while standing in the green crap the ghouls leave when they die.

My favorite was in AQ telling the new guys there was a switch at the bottom of the pool in front of where you fight Moam, and it’s the new guy’s job for the fight while everyone laughs as they get massacred by piranhas. We’d even reassure them by giving them unending breath and swim speed pots.

Ah those were the days…

I remember back in the day when I was still new to the game, people would type in bg chat ‘/emote you have been flagged as AFK. Type /AFK to unflag yourself’

I admit, I did fall for it the first time.

Reminds me of going into the AH on my rogue and “/e Soop has pick pocketed you and stolen 12 gold!”

You’d be amazed at how many people fall for that and spend the next ten minutes crying for you to give their money back. Sometimes I would do this before leaving for work or going out and I would tell them “ok, open trade” and put in the 12g and never click the button to complete the trade and let the game log me out long after I’ve left the house.

Slightly off topic but this thread reminds me of early Ultima Online. You can leave items on the ground for others to pick up. So as a grand master poisoner you could poison fish cakes and scatter them around. Noobs would eat and die since they had no way to cure the max rank poison lol.

Most of these they wont get away with in Classic, one shout out of their name in General and they are poof! gone.
