I bought 4 5k anima mounts, and 2 1.5k anima soulshapes so far. Now ill probably save it because i think the flying mounts might cost anima for the covenants.

Most of the things you can buy with anima are cosmetics, buy or upgrade whatever you like it doesn’t matter.
The transport rank 3 (Oribos portal) and the mission table (free gold/mats) are the only QoL improvements I can think of that you can get out of anima.
Okay, I went and tested it on my hunter who was already 101/100 on souls.
Went to the Maw, got my 20, turned it in with no issues. Raised my Renown by one and my soul count is now at 121/100.
So not only was the cap arbitrary and pointless, it’s literally non-existent.

Buy buildings get mounts. Mounts = the only worthy pursuit.
Nothing because I hate farming it
First thing I bought, outside the rank 1 covenant upgrades, was the silky shimmermoth for 5000 anima from the night court vendor. Then because I am not a raider or mythic+ player, I upgraded all my covenant armor pieces to rank 7.
The other day I just upgraded my anima conductor to rank 2, so now I don’t have much anima at the moment. But, I plan to start leveling up my Queen’s conservatory and there are a couple more mounts I want to buy that are 5000 each.
I have two alts and the thought of farming anima for what I want from their covenants makes me tired. It will take a while for my alts.

Ahahaha, I’m using my anima in the same way I plan to upgrade my gear in 9.0.5, if I ever had any.
Nothing right now. I was going to pick up the new illusion, until I realized it’s 2500 anima for a slightly upgraded version of the rep illusions I can buy for a lousy 1000g and at least use those on all of my characters.

Saving for rank 3 portal, currently at 2.
I have upgraded everything to the maximum level except the last three levels of Ember Court (which I have only done once). My only concern here is Blizzard dropping a bomb on us saying everything needs to be totally upgraded.
Beyond that I have purchased the covenant hearthstone and the majority of the renown cosmetics.
Still upgrades for sanctum.
I’m spending it on whatever cosmetics don’t require the offerings currency since i will never be bothered to farm that
Just spend the anima, you’ll get it back quickly if you try 
Also get the night fae back items for sure. The butterflies were so cool
I don’t think it stops you. You probably won’t get the full amount. I’m in the same boat as Pyromor. I have 98 souls right now. Were I to do the souls quest, I would imagine I’d only get 2 instead of 20 when I turn the quest in.
that’s good to know. Now I won’t worry about doing the souls quest right away.
