What are you looking forward to MOST in Classic?

COMMUNITY.

Logging in and being KNOWN. People seeing you hit their friends list… “COME HEAL THIS PLZ. COME PVP WITH ME. LETS GO WORLD PVP!”

i miss logging into my priest and actually having my guild say hello back to me… Where you NEEDED people from your realms to progress and it wasnt just some large group finder tool that has opened you to about 15 servers worth of people to group with. To see people ONCE and never see them again. Thats what I hate. No more community, no more friendship, nothing you do MATTERS because when they raise that item level cap everything you just did, is useless.

Back in vanilla?

LOLOL. When you’re in dreadmist T0 and wrecking T2 players…
Where community was the driving force behind the game…
Things you did mattered, and lasted. Gear wasnt obsolete within a few months. You COULD do anything if you had the skill. The ONLY large jump from gear is going from T2 -> T3. In full Epic pvp gear/T2 I couldnt hardly do anything.

Windfury and earning the lvl 60 PVP gear. I’m looking forward to getting PVP titles pretty highly too.

I could sit here all day and list things I’m looking forward to. But what pops to mind first is the slow pace of Classic, and how it allows me to enjoy all the little details. Even getting a new green item at level 20 feels better than anything in BFA to me.

The “GO GO GO” pace of modern WoW and giving out epics without me investing anything to actually get them… yea give me the slowness of Classic, where everything feels meaningful.

  1. World PVP. Without that, an MMO is pointless.

  2. Better raids, not the dumbed down garbage that passes for raids these days.

  3. Old talent trees, lots more choices (even if lots of talents were just plain useless).

The only things I had wished for classic were tweaking useless gear and talents to be more useful. Like a leather epic with STR and SPR on it is useless, maybe change the SPR to STAM or something.

Idiotic adventures, and making my own content while enjoying the one blizzard also offers me.

The slow grind of an RPG where my character can actually be customized and not always be 1 of 3 class archetypes and a useless or irrelevant profession.

A story that lets me feel like a part of the world but doesn’t go overboard and make me feel like the hero.

Finding more value in the little rewards, because the work to get them was greater, what some would call tedious.

  • Staring at Onyxia for the first time (again)
  • Pre-Cataclysm zones (especially “fishing trips” in Loch Modan)
  • Tarren Mill/Hillsbrad and EPL PvP
  • Grinding Sorrow Hill for Argent Dawn tokens and rune cloth
  • Grinding Felwood for Hide of the Wild materials and Timbermaw Hold rep
  • Grinding AV for my TUF
  • DM Tribute and Strat 45 runs

To be fair, current talents are a lot more involved than the old talent trees. It was more of an illusion of having a choice back then. Pretend you’re leveling a mage, and you’re playing fire. Is there any rational reason that you can think of that you wouldn’t take the talent that increases your fire damage? There was very little room for customizing a build back then. If you had basic reasoning skills, you pretty much took the same talents as everyone else. This would leave you with maybe 1 or 2 free talents to spend somewhere.

Today, the talents are more situational and based on playstyle and encounter.

And world PvP is dead. Blizzard has been putting alliance and horde right on top of each other for the last 10 years and everyone is refusing to fight each other. They even added war mode, for when your intention is to PvP… Classic isn’t going to bring it back.

Closed server community and class design

Either you didn’t play, or you were bad. Your primary tree was filled in based on which talents were needed. No DPS in the game ignored the talents that increased their damage, none of them ignored the talents that gave them abilities and cooldowns. Blizzard even commented on their own design acknowledging that there wasn’t really any actual customization in the old talent trees.

My main class was Paladin, and I dabbled with Priest. In truth, I’m not terribly knowledgeable about the other classes. In my experience, most of the time one indeed committed at least 31 points to a tree that focused on a single role. But there were definitely choices to be made within that tree, and up to 20 points to spend elsewhere. I can sit here and give you 5 raid-healing paladin specs without trying – each tuned for different play-style, and anticipated activities once the raid is over.

Oh and hey, coming into a thread dedicated to what people are most excited about for the sole purpose of trying to poke holes in their opinions is pretty lame, at best. :confused:

I still say there should be a Statistics page, and one of them should be “Deaths Due To That Jump In Wailing Caverns”.

Oh! Perhaps you can answer which healing spec was best for Druid. Should I go with a 24/0/27 Moonglow spec, a 21/0/30 Regrowth spec, or perhaps deep Resto for Swiftmend? Perhaps I should spec into Feral Charge as well since I plan to do some flag carrying on the side, heck maybe I could start off with a nice HotW spec. I never played Vanilla, so I am dying to know which spec everyone used :joy:
