I like this album (“Deeper Well”) better than the last one (which was her “s**t I just got divorced” album, so it was understandably more downbeat). Don’t know yet if I like it more than Golden Hour, I’ll need a few more listens to both.

Fear of a Blank Planet came out at a very formative period in my life, when I was deep in the throes of my depression. The existential angst and nihilism that permeates this album hit me in a way that few other artists have been capable of doing. Honestly, it scared me a bit, being laid bare by a piece of music like this, and I still can’t listen to My Ashes and the end of Anesthetize without getting misty-eyed. Love Steven Wilson and would highly recommend checking out Porcupine Tree as well as his solo efforts.
