The Car Was The One re-tells a brief incident related by the late Mark Donohue when he was young, frustrated and desperate to race. The short passage in āThe Unfair Advantageā, the book about his life written by Donohue himself and Paul Van Valkenburgh, reminded me of how badly I wanted to be out there playing in a rock band when I was young. Itās about a young personās desire to follow his compulsion.

I was amused to see on Wikipedia that when Teaser and the Firecat was released in 1971, a reviewer wrote āCat has become a dependable artist, a good artist, but he appears to be one of those composers who does not develop, who holds no surprises.ā
Six years later, the guy who wrote Peace Train, Moon Shadow, and Morning Has Broken does this. Yeah, sure, no surprisesā¦
