Boooooooo! Shun the non believer! Shuuuunnnn!
Nope. Ironforge is better organized, has better aesthetics, and is better located for endgame. The zone around it is far better than the night elf starting zone, as well. Frankly, the only problem with Ironforge is that there is a gnome infestation. But at least you can light a fire without people getting all scared.
I’m well aware of IF’s advantages and its little disadvantage. I’m a night elf at heart and prefer elf lands to all others. That doesn’t make me a crazy person though. I hearth to IF like most everyone else.
The only elf lands worth the time aren’t coming until TBC, when we get Quel’thalas and Ghostlands.
Gross. You can go play barbies over there! —->
You’re just upset that Blood Elves have better hair, and better figures. It’s OK, we understand.
Pfff. Night Elf best elf!
…to put on the barbecue. I bet that tree would make one hell of a smoker…
Whoa! I’m calling the cops. That is way too soon… even though that’s in the future…
The truth hurts, I know. Look, there’s a reason why the Alliance didn’t help portal the night elves away before the battle, and why Velen just sat on his new space ship and watched everything burn rather than come help. Hell, even Elune just was like, “Yawn, hurry up and give me your souls, I have a hair appointment in an hour.”
There are no good elves.
Go dwarf or go home.
Only if you intend to play a sword rogue. The racial does nothing for dagger rogues. Aged core leather gloves means every race is viable as a dagger rogue.
True, I was coming at this from a mostly PVE perspective and sword rogue is mostly the best choice for PVE, from what I remember. Certainly a dagger rogue would be different, but that’s mostly PVP I believe.
Human male paladin is the only way to play.
If that’s all you truly care about I’d say go night elf. If you’re asking about mechanical reasons to choose it would vary widely by class.
Belf males are so feminine, they might very well be the first Transgender avatar from blizzard, and the females look like anorexic models. IMO belf are second to only pandas as the worst looking race in WoW. Their racials are godmode, but the avatars are poop.
human female
Female NE for combat animation
Avoid gnomes. 5% INT is a meh racial and they don’t look good in most gear due to size. Escape artist has a cast time and can fail. Just buddy up with a paladin if you want movement freedom, blessing of freedom and cleanse are amazing. I personally can’t stand their running animation. They sort of just shuffle against the ground.
Dwarf rogue is kind of thematically cool because you get treasure finding, which also reveals lockboxes for lockpicking leveling. They look kinda dorky in rogue gear though, but pretty cool in everything else. Fear ward is strong, but not necessary. Gun skill as stated is pointless largely.
Humans look good in anything and they have a strong pve racial for anything that uses swords or maces (warrior, paladin, rogue). Human male paladin is probably like, the definitive wow alliance vanilla experience. Human females have oddly oversized weapons and kinda dumb jokes. Male humans have the best joke in the game. Macro /silly with ice block if you play mage.
Night elf rogues and druids enjoy a small stealth level bump due to shadowmeld, and the skill is a decent pvp racial. 1% dodge is just kinda w/e. Tallest alliance race, if that matters. They also look good in most armor but due to really colorful and long hair options I usually hide helmets.
So personal preference NE > Human > Dwarf > Gnome.
Only thing I would recommend outside of playing what you want is human for warrior. If you plan to raid at all the human racial saves you like 2-3k gold endgame on an item other races usually have to buy.
Undead Female for the GODLY FLIP SPECIAL ATTACK ANIMATION.
Oh, right. Alliance. I prefer Night Elves for the aesthetic; symmetry and the way armor sits. Runner up would be Human Female, due to the weapon sizing (and helpful racial). They, surprisingly, do not present symmetrically. I guess orc females do this, too, so this boils down to the aesthetic you want.
