As a RPer:

  • TRP 3 (Preferably, or any other RP profile addons)
  • Listener
  • Emote Splitter

For general WoW use:

  • Details!
  • Scrap (Junk Seller)

These are the basic addons I used as these are VERY QoL but the RP stuff can be questionable in terms of that, it ain’t really QoL but adds the immersion and opportunity to enjoy for those who like to RP as much as playing the game itself.

If you’re killing say all the bosses in Dragon Soul and looting all the gear then I would strongly suggest an addon like https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/dejunk or https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/aardvark/. They allow you to add items to a list (all the drops from the bosses) that get automatically sold when you open a vendor. This was a godsend for me back when I was soloing Cata25H in WoD each week. Going from right clicking hundreds of items across all my alts to only one click :heart_eyes_cat:

Details, because I like to know exactly who is messing up on what. Then I tell them about it in a whisper and if they mess up on it again I can list the group during the wipe to get them replaced.

I think it’s called BeQuiet, it blocks all of those annoying talking head things that pop up all of the time.

Oh neat. I may have to check it out. My scrolling combat text tends to not work sometimes and this sounds fun. :slightly_smiling_face:

Well, I thought I could live without Bagnon but turns out the bag interface from Blizzard isn’t that great. Can’t change the number of rows and I can no longer see which character has what.

(Unless I’m missing something? Please let me know.)

I can’t live without MogIt or TomTom either.

  • Rematch - just use the teams and leveling queue functions, not the automation.
  • Accountant or Accountant Classic. Currently the later because the original has a bug with more than 15 characters per server.
  • Adibags - who wouldn’t want automatic organization?
  • Some sort of coordinate addon.

Actually the prelaunch proved that statement horribly wrong. With ElvUI i was up and running within seconds on any of my characters on logging in… I had absolutely zero down time as my bars were already configured to my needs.

Yeah because you already spent time editing ELVui.

That’s not an argument. You spent time making your ELVUI fit for yourself. It takes 2-4 minutes to set up the new DF ui properly.

No one needs ELVui. Just because you like it doesn’t mean it’s mandatory.

Mandatory is something you couldn’t play the game without.

To answer OP. I use a few addons but I wouldn’t consider any of them mandatory. I could get rid of all of them and I wouldn’t really mind but if I had to pick the one that helps the most it’s probably GRID2 because I like to see how big my Power Word Shields are (I have the shield grow from the left to the right sort of like a second health bar over the players health) and I like to change the green health to “gold” for when my party is atoned with my priests atonement.

When the addons all got broken with 10.0 prepatch, I got a really good idea of which addons are absolutely critical to my enjoyment of the game. Can I play without them? Yes, but it feels horrible.

Venture Plan (and Master Plan for WoD garrison)
RareScanner (for ZM mostly)
WorldQuestTracker
WeakAuras (not all my alts, but some specs I basically can’t play without WA)
