You know I remember when WoTLK was released and this dude who was in our guild was running dungeons and raids and then he stopped rolling no loot or progressing. We asked him why and he said, well why upgrade my gear when I have to throw it away on the next expansion. 
I never understood this kind of thinking. It is the way these games progress.
