That was my point. And good luck trying to balance both simultaneously. Blizz hasn’t figured that out in 20 years.
Also, I don’t often empathize with Blizzard but I don’t envy their task of trying to appease a Zoomer playerbase who have zero interest in fun, and rather obsess completely on every little tiny perceived imbalanced. It’s an impossible task.
I don’t envy it either, but it’s their job. I have never had a boss walk up to me and go “Just go through the motions the first 3 tasks today, I know you have a lot on your plate.”
The thing is, this is a problem that hasn’t been fixed in 20 years, at what point does someone get held accountable for not doing a job??
Well, my opinion is that they don’t view it as a problem. WoW isn’t designed to be ‘balanced’. It’s designed to be decidedly unbalanced. To encourage players to reroll to fotm classes. In many cases that means buying boosts. And there’s always an expectation you might be the next OP class. That keeps players interested and ‘hopeful’ they’ll be Kings of the game…for a while, anyway.
It’s basic manipulation. Blizz is very good at that.
It’s just bad game design. Classic classes have 3 spec for raid PvP leveling. Sod runes only buffs one of the spec forcing ppl to use the same meta. The new dev team apparently have no ideas how each class works. They just thrown something to the classes and hoping ppl don’t complain on them.
Depends on how they’re played really.
I know what you mean though, I’ve seen plenty of hunters just tunnel dps with no concern for anything else.
When played well and correctly though, they bring benefit by being able to offtank situations. Countless times over the years if I’m on hunter in raid, rando mob starts chasing a healer around, send pet, grab it, protect the healer.
Can also cut the tank some slack in busy situations by taking a few off him.
But, like I said, you have to actually consider what’s going on and not just dps focus.
Currently hunters are in a great spot compared to other classes, although I’m not sure how this will change as we level more.
Now let me introduce you to us Shadow Priests, we are currently the lowest DPS class and we offer absolutely nothing to your raid except draining your healers mana because our main damaging spell does 50% of our HP every cast. We also run out of mana extremely quickly and bring zero raid utility unlike Hunters who bring Kings as an aura.
My Shadow Priest is quite geared and sadly my awfully geared Hunter does more DPS by using auto shot and /petattack.
Edit: just to clarify, I am not saying Hunters need a nerf
What do you mean “come close”? Warrior top end is the best of the best min maxing down to blood shards and bogling roots. You can see that the deviation in warrior dps is the biggest because everyone below the 95th percentile performs about the same as any other dps. Not to mention mages are far and away the best overall dps for the entire raid.
Hunters get hate bc ppl think its the noob class. The idea being that you send the pet in, your in no risk and you can kinda do f all while thats going on and win in basic pve questing scenarios while other classes have to deal with significantly more pressure and slightly more awareness.
I think an answer is to buff Lone Wolf back to its original 25% or maybe even higher damage bonus.
The skill of hunters kiting in solo pve would become respectable, the bads would just die lol.
The hunters in pvp wouldnt get hate bc they wouldnt be just sicking the pet on you and running without even shooting to let you die.
And maybe their pve dps would be higher with this buff.
Now if Lone Wolf ends up ridiculouslt OP in PvP then I think we should buff Sniper Training.
Sniper Training right now only affects the shot abilities. Not Auto shot so its actually alot weaker than many people think.
I would raise the crit % on this back to at least 30%, if not significantly higher.
If your losing to hunters in Bgs/Mass world PvP with Sniper Training then idk what to tell you.
The only legit complaint I could see to this is that people who are dueling the hunter get stuck in Freezing Trap and complain about the hunter getting a high chance of critting them with Aimed Shot.
Which I think is a legit complaint but it is also a hunter strength and immersive gameplay.
What are your thoughts?
I like making the more meta versions of the hunter’s raid dps not include the pet bc the pet is an npc dpsing for you and alot of ppl feel like thats unfair and if a pet has a certain ability thats OP than people will say the whole class is a gimmick of that pet.
This is not enough, the not moving part of it makes it unusable, both raid and pvp. It needs to be removed, or keep running for some time after you move.
That is the point right there. If we do damage with the pet, it is not fair, if we do damage without the pet, it is not fair. Meanwhile Starsurge is completely fine…
I really really do not get this argument, most dps rotations do not involve more thinking then controlling the pet. Heck, I would love for blibli to give us buttons to press to control pet abilities rather than auto, but it will be the same whining about them. Just wait for p2 active BM talents, which are buttons to press, in a week people are gonna complain about it. No one has a problem with homoculus, no one will have a problem with succubus charm, etc.
I honestly think that people just hate hunters, and will find any reason, excuse to hate them, no matter where their damage is coming from. Meanwhile other classes are busted in PVP, and WAR is busted in raid, and nothing changes…
