We all love the system and skills they grant and they just take it away at the end of the xpac?
Best case scenario: they bake some of it in at least in the form of abilities, and conduits, etc. become part of the next expansion system(s).
Worst case scenario: they just remove it all and we’re left with specs that are all awkward and clunky af to play and they make 0 changes to smooth them out.
Realistically, we’re gonna get a mix of the two as we have since Legion. We’ll get some abilities added in as talents, or baseline. We’ll have conduits in some form, but they’ll be changed. Either way, it’ll require some massive class/spec redesign to keep half the specs playable.
Yet again, borrowed power will cause blizz to have to spend 90% of their class design time ‘fixing’ rather than ‘improving’.
The best case scenario is to remove it… just make abilities baseline (or talents) if you want classes to have it, nobody likes grinding over and over each patch for petty upgrades (legendaries, sockets, conduits, renown, probably more out there). The majority of players just want to actually raid, mythic +, or pvp; the bread and butter.
I don’t
to me it’s all artificial garbage that function more as unnecessary entry barriers than ‘fun’
the game was best when it was straightforward: ding, gear, gem, enchant, play
