Normally I wouldn’t care, but this is Lysol laundry disinfectant that I’m using for the first time so I don’t want to chemical myself too much.

I usually just wash with cold water. Seems to work for most of my clothing. Whites however are nothing but blistering hot water and bleach.

Hot water wash and tumble dry on normal setting is enough to kill most house-hold bacteria.

Bacteria tend to prefer neutral pH. Detergent already changes the pH of your washing water, but you can boost that with soda (a base).

You can do the opposite by adding vinegar (an acid) to your rinse water. It also breaks down detergent residue that clings to fabrics.

I’m a bit of a germaphobe, I’m not Howard Hughes, but it is a concern. Also, this batch of clothes has been sitting there for weeks like a compost pile because I have to be careful with this stupid kidney thing and not exert myself too much.
