“My fave will always be Bram Stoker’s Dracula, with Gary Oldman.”

Oh yeah, that was a stellar performance!

My three choices, are very close to each other. :slightly_smiling_face:

“Your other two choices are also favorites of mine.”

There was an old Hammer Films Dracula with Christopher Lee where he never spoke a word in the entire movie. Christopher Lee says he refused to say anything because the dialogue was so bad, the director says it was by design, but in any event, it worked so well!!!

Why would Dracula talk to his food? lol

“Why do we talk to cows? We talk to our food too. Even raise them as family. I think it is to help us feel superior.”

That’s true.

“One remake that I was actually more impressed with, than the original, was the 1982 remake of The Thing. The original movie only had two things in common with the original short story. It was set in the Arctic, and the creature was from outer space. The remake followed the original story almost to the letter. Including the names AND descriptions of the Characters.”

“I was more impressed than I have ever been with a remake.”

Can’t go wrong with John Carpenter and Lovecraft! I agree, that was a great movie. :hearts:

…oh and I just ran out of LIKES, so that’s why I’m not LIKING things anymore today.

“If you ever get the chance, read the original short story. You will love it.”

At the Mountains of Madness. Already read it and most of Lovecraft. I love when they open it up and see a foot high of dust over the last million years+ BUT there are recent footprints in the dust!! gasp

“No. The short story, ‘Who Goes There?’ That is not in The Mountains Of Madness. It is a short story by John W. Campbell, Jr., written under the pen name Don A. Stuart.”

“That is the story the movie ‘The Thing’ was based on.”

Oh that’s just weird then. Both stories written about the same time, with Mountains a year or two earlier. I thought The Thing was a Shoggoth?

“No. Sorry. I have read that one too, though, and I can see how you could make that mistake.”

Ok, well then, I have to read that one too then. :sunglasses:

“It may be hard to find. I read it in a book, of Collected Short Stories, put out by Scientific America. They have quite a few of them. I own about four.”
