So. Uh. We gonna be fixing this ooooor?
Hello, I see you posted a thread about RP. I don’t know!
Thanks for your post and have a great day!
And thank you, random citizen.
When DF comes out, it will be back to normal. Usually happens for prepatch.
Yeah, pretty much. It’s unfortunate that this is the case, but it is what it is.
I noticed this too. Got back from a battle and the whole city was empty.
They turned sharding on because the RP servers were melting without it, is my guess. Too many people showing up for the event. It was great to see, but impossible to get anything done.
As was mentioned, it is prolly temporary and will go back to normal when things calm down.
It absolutely will, yeah. This happens all the time with every prepatch.
This happened to my friend in Orgrimmar the other day and she couldn’t find the quest giver or anyone. She left the city and came back and that fixed it.
Maybe it’s that kind of issue?
That sounds like a threshold lag issue. Sometimes when we enter highly populated places, things or assets won’t load in because when we entered the area, there was a server lag of some kind. Leaving and resetting the zone can fix it.
What’s being discussed at the moment is RP realm specific sharding, as RP realms are usually exempt from it to preserve the RP community and facilitate walkup RP. In Stormwind on MG for example, there’s a thing called the Gnews, which is a social function run often. People realized sharding was happening though when the Gnews wasn’t being heard and suddenly, a raid group had to be formed.
It’ll be fine in a couple of weeks when everyone is on the Dragon Isles, which will have sharding even on RP realms as current content always does. And the sharding in major RP hubs will take a breather.
Ah! Thank you. I’ve always played on RP servers but not engaged in the usual RP there, I just like to play my character ‘in character’ as it were and interact with other toons accordingly.
Had no idea that was a thing and now I know! ![]()
