Ziryus worded it poorly but he was talking about how druids’ basic attacks are static and don’t scale off weapon damage.
Williams pointed out that Eviscerate, Rupture, Garrote, Kick and other rogue abilities don’t either. There was 0 mention of attack power scaling. In fact, Ziryus was comparing druids and hunters in his OP talking about how hunters have their weapon damage and ammo to scale off.
As far as I can tell from research I’ve done, it’s a base ~20 dps but it could be higher possibly. Besides 300 strength + FAP weapon = makes up for the 50 dps difference in Naxx weapons
Rogue T1-T3 all have strength. Druids prioritize agility over strength up to a certain crit % any way.
To me it looked as if he was meaning that those abilities were static themselves and I replied as such.
Right that’s pitifully low dps and it was single handed, so basically the equivalent of a white dagger being single wielded. In general itemization was a huge issue, druids scaled worse with agi than rogues but there was simply a huge lack of str gear pre AQ as well as a lack of FAP weapons and the one from AQ 20 only had enough FAP to bring it up to maybe the equivalent of a blue 1 hander.
Changing feral to benefit from weapon damage would be an easy fix without having to reitimize anything.
There is plenty of strength gear, it’s just rogue only for most of it. Druids scale less with agility only due to the influence of DW that rogues posess. Druids scale 2.4 times greater with strength than rogues do if one removes DW from the equation.
Rogue and druid with 300 strength from base and gear and 450 agility.
Not the way it works, rogues get 2x AP from AGI and scaled better with crit in vanilla as well(bleeds didn’t crit yet). So now you also have to look at the main damage abilities, SS or BS both scale with weapon damage, shred does not since of course it’s based on a static weapon.
So in short feral scaled terribly with the gear available and the little gear that would actually be desirable came from AQ content and up and even then there was still a massive lack of FAP weapons.
Just moving feral to work off weapon dps would help close that gap some since at least it plugs one of the huge holes with scaling. And unlike trying to fix the str issue doesn’t require any changes to items.
All signs point to it being yet another area in vanilla with no real flushed out design that the developers just kind of threw in there and didn’t work out right.
This is seriously not even needed. Druid dps scales fine if you know what you are doing and have the right hat. Granted most 40 man raids only take 1-2 feral/tank droods but its not a big deal.
You really can’t have it both ways, either feral scales fine or raids only might take 1 or 2 for very niche off tanking. But then the agenda of pure classes was always to force hybrids into healing roles.
Ever wonder why they cannot wear plate? Cloth and leather stretches. They are not losing the body, so armor is still being worn. Changing to a bear or cat removes the opposable thumbs, which removes the ability to utilize weapons beyond the stats. You are literally using your claws. Unless you want to give up the abilities that utilize your claws in exchange for the OP’s ridonkulous suggestion.
Maul? Gone
Claw? Gone
Swipe? Gone
Rip? Gone
Shred? Gone
Rake? Gone
Travel form? Nope, cannot run while you are holding a weapon.
Pounce? Not likely with a weapon in your paw.
