"We want Shield of the Righteous to make you feel strong.."

I will challenge that statement and say that Blizzard has missed that mark by a wide a margin. Something that by default only lasts 4 seconds does not make you “feel” strong. No way to extend it or keep it running other than lucky 15% Divine Purpose procs which I believe should be in the ballpark of 25-30%, why is this so low for something that by default lasts 4 sec. SotR made you feel strong in the Legion expansion because it reduced “all damage” you took, which we could argue was a bit much. It seems as if when this change was made the other tools that made Protection Paladin flow were left behind unaltered.

You wanted to constrain our resource generation but there was no reasoning behind this in regards to other tanks whom at the moment are flooded with resources to “play the tank game”.
Which is a design I agree with because it is fun to press buttons and not feel arbitrarily restrained.

You want us to stand in our Consecration but fight designs have increasingly leaned towards heavy movement & don’t stand in bad. Consecrate being on the global cooldown feels
outdated and needs to be modernized…same with Word of Glory being on the global cooldown.

Hammer of the Righteous needs to be updated as it is almost never picked - Blessed Hammer needs not to spiral out to nether when used (it doesn’t do that in Diablo if memory serves me correct)
Are we a Paladin in Warcraft or a Crusader in Diablo?

It feels as if Protection is this nice puzzle, but at the moment the pieces are being forced to fit instead of fitting as they should. I guess that’s a sentiment with “Paladin” as whole now.

Thanks

The devs need to ask themselves this question every single day until they remember what gsme franchise this is. We are not diablo, we are WoW.

Am I the only person who is mad about the sound effect change? Surely I cant be, but I’ve never seen anyone talk about it.

Feels bad to say but Prot Paladin, definitely is Crusader from Diablo, since in D3 that was my most played tanky class, and practically everything Crusader does Prot does…

Every SOTR extends the duration up to 13 seconds.

You generate HP faster than your SOTR will fall off. SOTR is off the GCD, you can spam it while building. We also have Bastion of Light every 2 minutes.
Here’s my attempt with 98% uptime on the raid dummy before splatting. ( I don’t even play Prot )

Literally flooded with resources. SOTR will not drop off even without Avenger’s Shield no longer generating HP.

I don’t think OP played Protection longer than it took him to type this post. Nobody else called him out on it but jumped straight to D3 talk.

Not really sure what OP is going on about.
Every use of SotR extends the duration up to 12 secs. The spec felt a little clunky with AS losing its holy generation, but as you get more haste it’s smoothed out again. If I don’t have the buff up I am taking no damage and pooling resources, or I am taking no damage and spot healing random target damage. End of SL we were so HP flooded you pretty much spammed SotR just for damage and the buff was almost always at 10+secs.
Conc. has such a short CD that every time boss or mob makes you move you can drop a new one. Or the mob sits in Conc and you moved away taking no damage anyway from them (looking at you spinning gnolls and dragon images).
HotR vs BH is a choice between more damage done or a small damage reduction.

Because the current developers have no idea what they are doing with paladin in general or the direction they want to follow. These developers are lost beyond saving and have refused to listen to any and all feedback since the Alpha. People have tried being nice. It clearly does not work. These developers are straight up clueless on what they are doing with paladin in general.

The paladin trees are a pre alpha mess. Some well-deserved damage buffs are needed. Judgement of light, golden path, seal of mercy, touch of light, incandescence are all laughably under tuned. Especially since the 40% hp increase. Obduracy should be further up the tree.

Hammer of the righteous is trash. Faith in the light is trash. Inner light is trash. Crusaders resolve should last at least 15 seconds to match with the cooldown of avengers shield and the other talent strength in adversity. Focused enmity is straight up garbage under tuned especially for where it is at the bottom of the tree. Faith in the light is straight garbage given its 2 talent points. Either make it 1 talent point or redesign the talent. I would be in favor of redesign. If Blizzard plans on leaving prot warrior as is then they might as well buff Bulwark of order back to 100%.

All these consecration talents and we couldn’t give paladins an option to have consecrate follow you. Don’t get me started with this thundering affix with ranged that refuse to clear with the tank and you have to run across the room out of consecrate. 3 talents just for divine steed. It should have been 1 at most and maybe 1 other mobility talent node.

The prot tree has you sacrifice what little damage you have left if you want to go with higher mitigation. I’m not saying prot paladin is awful. They are not. I really enjoy prot paladin and I think they are in a decent spot. The trees and some talents need heavy tuning. The entire tree still looks like it’s in a pre-alpha state.

The haste is very important. It only really felt clunky early in the season because of low stat allocations.

The claim of SoTR not extending was a wierd take.
