You say that as if you can't FLY down and admire a maps layout. And yes bring back gold for flying. If you can't scrounge up 5-6k gold at this point in the games life you've got bigger problems.
I'm guessing you missed his point which, and he can correct me if I'm wrong, maps are irrelavant with flying because the terrain isn't an obstacle. You don't have to follow roads , or find paths (or even know where the roads and paths are), avoid mobs, etc.
With the current design of the areas flying would make them completely uninteresting to me. Unlike the OP I'll only speak for myself and say I'm fine with the current way of achieving flying including the timetable.
