We really don't hate Shadowlands enough

TWW is not a “course correction”. It’s a continuation of Dragonflight with most of the same systems, and some new stuff.

Oh yea. That was DF. The SL terribleness had to be corrected.

At least it’s set in K’aresh, after they realized nobody cares about a bland story!

Yeah…someone up above was saying Dragonflight, TWW, and Midnight were all course corrections…no they weren’t. Just Dragonflight.

SL almost single handedly killed WoW, it made millions of players subvert to another mmorpg (FFXIV). it’s wildly known and accepted as the worst expansion and the only reason why it didn’t kill retail was because classic was booming. I would say it’s gotten the hate it deserves.

Again, the proto-type Pantheon still dictates the eternals personalities were designed off the constructs — Not their souls.

  • You could argue Pelagas was a special exception, however you could also reason that we didn’t really see too much of them as the Arbiter for us to grasp if they were still truly the same, through & through.

At best → You may be able to reason the construct for the purpose it’s designed for DOES have a pre-designed personality & urging desires implemented deep within, however the soul itself alters all of such ever slightly towards their ideals and personality of their spirit.

Future Outcomes …

If they reveal the soul thing I mentioned earlier (how they can’t ever be truly destroyed) and “one of the many” conspiracies / secrets held by the Eternals – I guess that could be beneficial towards your favourite expansion rather than against it, because it would reveal precedent & possible future narratives with the Shadowlands for the future for us to dabble with or engage, correlating to such lore & stories.

Gotta say I expected more from the Shadowlands defenders. These points I made remained entirely unaddressed, probably because they know there is no response. Every single point brought up by Shadowlands defenders was rebuffed, and many of the Shadowlands defenders were revealed to be serial harassers on these forums (such as guys like Tiffany).

I’m a SL defender to the extent I don’t think it was as bad as the amount of hate it gets, but those points you raised are entirely valid. Maybe I liked it because I’ve never cared about lore in WoW and didn’t do any content competitive enough to get that bent out of shape about the clear BiS choices.

I think for the average player it wasn’t too awful.

I’m just a huge lore nerd so for me it was downright tragic. It’s like they tried adjusting the lore with a butcher knife and chainsaw

The only silver lining I found in it was Arthas being permanently deleted so these writers will never have the opportunity to butcher him or his story. He’s dead, gone and disenchanted. His legacy is all that’s left

That’s totally fair and valid and I respect it. I’m the same way with Star Wars lore. I absolutely HATE the sequel trilogy for lore reasons (among others).

No worries, those can be ruined too.

And the one mysterious and semi-interesting thing was just done away with.

Shadowlands was great - Good raid, zones, memorable characters, and plot (till it got cut short). Honestly, better than DF and TWW.

What did they correct? Seriously.

The big change they made at the start of DF was nerfing tanks and healers. Everyone hated that more than they hated SL because they’ve basically undone that change at this point.

A lot of people want to debate that WoD was the worst expansion. The only flaw with WoD was the lack of content. The zones, music, raid design, pvp design, questing experience, garrisons, were all of high quality. I wish for a day maybe like wod classic or a wod remix where all the cut content comes back in that event then makes its way into retail.

But truly Shadowlands was the worst for a massive amount of reasons as listed by OP.

No borrowed power, no more chores like choreghast, WQs became much shorter, flying enabled from the start.
