Just hit lvl 80 as a death knight. Role set only to dps. Hop in group finder, sign up for multiple dungeons. Proceed to get whispered every 2 mins. “Tank?” “No, am dps” “tank?” “No, dps” …
Just let me queue for the role I am, why do I have to deal with this nonsense. Such a waste of time.

Quest gear to raids in an unfamiliar tank spec sounds like a great idea. You’re right, what could possibly go wrong.
Playing a spec you havent before, and don’t want to out of lethargy is the perfect reason why we need RDF.

So you expect to get invited to random pugs group upon hitting level 80? As a highly represented class and role? That’s not how this works.
Then what’s the issue, if you’re willing to wait - no need for RDF.
No, I don’t mind waiting, but you have 80 mouth breathers that can’t see the role you’re set as spamming you asking if you’re a tank.
Just set a role, queue for a dungeon and keep it moving. Easy as that. Worked really well back in Wrath.
They don’t need DPS, DPS is always abundant as every class has a DPS spec - in addition to the large swaths of Death Knight players.
Only 4 classes can tank.
You do the math on supply vs demand. Opening up server’s isnt going to magically fix the ratio issues that are present on each server. Not as many people are leveling, and even less are willing to Tank/Heal - i.e. YOU
You can always just add a note saying specifically that you don’t tank.

Did it all without RDF, I have no idea how I managed without being spoon fed groups and teleported to dungeons.

I understand it would potentially make it easier to find groups at any given time, in theory. I just think the Tank/Healer issue will get exacerbated. It will make it even easier for Tanks/Healers to get groups and finish their things quicker - not make it easier for DPS.
This is your problem right here.
Even with RDF you’ll still be waiting for a group.
Try tanking and see how your experience goes with the current group finder and report back.

RDF didn’t exist until ICC was released, ICC has not released. So stop complaining.
Because they already have the DPS they need and all is missing is a tank. So they look at the list and see you, a DK, a class that can tank. Even if you’re only signing up for DPS, asking you if maybe you’re interested in tanking costs nothing. You don’t have to get upset about it.
I’m not sure what the problem is then… If you’re too lazy to form your own groups and you just wait for someone to put you in theirs, how is that really different from dungeon finder in your experience?
