Ha! Well, I can say that I disagree without typing caps or getting upset lol.
I don’t like turtling either, but I’m not sure I’d agree with 20 minutes, or 2 minute dampening ticks for classic.
I had a great PuG vs Premade match earlier tonight that was 30 minute, where the solo-queue pugs won 3:2 in 30 minutes. It didn’t feel particularly long. I think 20 minutes is far too short, but what would be a reasonable time? Maybe an hour? I’m actually OK with no time limit.
If they other team is turtling and being annoying, you can always either figure out how to wipe them or quit. That can definitely be time consuming and annoying, but those are some exceptionally Classic descriptors, imo.
Meh, at least you’re offering them in a reasonable manner, imo. I may not agree, but I don’t dislike you for having them!
I also don’t think that my opinions are necessarily particularly representative of any given majority.
I think 10-15 minute timer. and each flag capture resets the timer back to 15. Sounds good?
That way the pressure is on and you wont have two flag carriers camping in each base and nothing progressing. the stalemate situation is probably the worst of all.
I see where you’re coming from and it seems like that sounds reasonable, however…
10-15 minutes is far too short, imo. I’m in a match right now that would be over if that were the case. We’re 21 (32 by the time I finished this post) minutes in, and it’s 1:0, and has been since 3 minutes in.
I think that those sorts of immediate gratification systems exist in other versions of the game, and while I’m sure that some people legitimately would and do like them, I personally think that it’s precisely the hardships that we overcome together that make the Classic experience that much more enjoyable in the long run.
So, those games where the other team is turtling, and you have to decide if you or someone on your team can manage to bring everyone together to coordinate and actually get a win, or if you need to just leave the BG and go to work instead, or whatever… but you decide to stay, and you come together and overcome that hardship… together.
There’s almost nothing that beats that sort of gaming experience.
So yeah, there are things that are inconvenient, can often be annoying and are difficult to overcome, but that’s sort of the magic sauce that is the Classic experience.
EDIT: 37 minutes and we won 3:0 (premade vs. premade).
No timers are needed. You only take away from people who actually like wsg in favor of people who are only playing to farm rep and then they are never seen again.
Good wsg games can go on 45+ mins. Timers ruin the game. A 30 minute BG is not weird. Most ab games are around that time and turtle AVs are even longer
On top of that, timers promote turtle strats. Team will get 1 cap and just 10 man turtle on their graveyard with then next flag till they win. They have no incentive to cap because they wil automatically with a timer.
That’s not a good game, that’s usually one team not realizing they’ve lost and being sore losers by turtling. I good WGS lasts no longer than 30 minutes.
All I’ve gathered from your myriad of claims and experiences is that you don’t enjoy the bg if it does not end at a time you deem good.
We just had a wsg tournament this weekend and I can provide you the videos if you like. These games were usually 30-1hr. These teams were not turtling and these are actuall good teams. You won’t find them queing up against random pugs. What you deem a turtle migut be completely different than what is actually happening. Such as 4 or 5 people defending their FC which is extremely common practice in a real game
No, a good time for a match to take is a good time for a match to take. EVERY SPORT IN THE WORLD HAS A CLOCK!!!
Good for you, I hope real world prizes weren’t traded, because that’s against ToS. If so, please, share the video so I can submit it to Blizzard for bans.
Are you angry? Why the caps? The game ends when the third cap happens
Sure, go look up Rokmans most recent broadcast.
There were no prize pool. So nice job being a spoil sport, a brat, and a baby trying to rain on other people’s parade.
These guys played for no gain. No honor, no rep, no irl prizes, just for the love of the BG - something you do not have
Want to know something that will make you extremely angry? There’s likely a legit OTK wsg tournament coming up later. They’ll all be having fun and you’ll be making more threads crying about wsg.
The problem is YOU
people like you want a 10-15 minute timer.
I’m sorry but you simply do not strike me as the kind of guy who really cares about the BG, only what you are getting out of it. You are welcome to AFK out if the game takes too long. End of story
The biggest reason to add rbgs to sod is to make try hard premades go to them instead of regular ques.
Just double or even triple rep. Honor can stay the same since it’s only up to rank 3 and there’s not even decay yet.
Or even make it so rating increases your rep gained. Then there’s incentive to rank up past rating alone.
It would allow for more chances to not go against premades while at the same time allowing friends to group up for regular ques and not needing to limit the amount of people to que. Limiting the amount to que doesn’t ever fix anything since people just splint into different parties and que until they all get a que at the same time.
No, no nothing. Add the MMR to separate folks out, but NOTHING beyond what is already in the game. This toxic set of activities CANNOT be rewarded in anyway at this point.
rating system would only result is massive RMT. if RBG’s are added it should have no rating and be worth double honor. and there should be TOURNAMENTS for those who want skilled competition. not a rating game that will create RMT and make people try to constantly game the system dodging opponents whoa are also high rated.
rbg’s can still be fun and social without rating attached. Like I said just double the honor/rep gain problem solved and have tournaments for people to compete in if they really want to sweat.
