Ah true. No need for a healer when everybody can do T1 dps and keep themselves at full health! Good point.
Dude, we’re playing WoW. None of the content “matters” and you’re not some authority capable of determining that a set of content is unimportant just because it’s not what you enjoy. To some people, I’m sure that dungeon finder heroic queue is their end game. It’s pretty arrogant of you to think you can declare a portion of the content irrelevant.
That’s my hunter -_- sericously even back in legion I hate CoS.
They nerfed tanks hard a few weeks ago. Not worth it to pug.
I absolutely understand how you feel. I was the same way and didn’t tank for 4 xpacs because of it. But the truth is, 95% of people are cool and often even helpful. Every time a tank has said “this is my first time here” this xpac, me and at least one other person told him it’s all good and showed him the way.
Going off what you said, you’re the type of person that doesn’t want to wipe a pug and waste everyone’s time. You’re don’t want to do something subpar. You’re exactly the type of person that should be a tank.
Where have all the good tanks gone? Where are all the gods?
Where’s the streetwise hercules to fight the rising odds?
Isn’t there a white knight upon a fiery steed
Late at night, I toss and I turn
And I dream of what I need!!!
I need a TANK!
I’m holding out for a tank 'til the end of the night
He’s gotta be strong, and he’s gotta be fast
And he’s gotta be fresh from the fight!
I NEEDA TANK!
Im a 390 Prot Pally and typically group with people I know.
Pugging as a tank can be brutal. I had pug DPS butt pulling trash in a key last night and laying into me because they died and then raging in chat the entire time about how us not timing was entirely the tanks fault but never mind that I was tanking two fat mobs along with two adds that should never be pulled at the same time. If you get put into a coffin because you butt pulled a static mob but had plenty of room not to, that’s on you.
Your job as a DPS is to DPS and do mechanics. That’s a pretty forgiving role compared to a tank
Tanks absolutely cant mess up and die but if you go down, its still workable
So TL;DR, most of the tanks are likely rolling with people they know because of toxic players.
I already tank, but most often its that there is too much pressure or expectation for tanks.
In raids, tank messes up usually means a fast wipe. Making the mistake very obvious.
In dungeons, tanks are expected to know their routes and generally how to lead.
Go to slow people tell them go faster, go too fast group often dies.
Every other new class had had a tank spec…problem is still there. Why would another spec suddenly magically fix the problem.
I also feel as a tank/or even melee this xpac the AoE is so hard to spot. Like in The Azure Vault the whole theme is all purple and blue but the ground AoE is also purple and blue?! Same with CoS and Burial Grounds.
It would be so much more helpful is the AoE is a totally different color of the dungeon layout.
I think some of the problem (not all) comes from end game raids only requiring a couple tanks.
There’s far more dps and healer slots to fill in a raid so overall guilds look for them more often, once they find their main tank and off tank they are happy.
And in dungeons the queue times are so fast for tanks they get all the gear they want faster and leave that queue behind.
Too busy playing my dragon
I’m doing my part. I have 3 tanks at 70 and working on getting my DK alt levelled up.
Honestly, there are plenty of tanks. The problem is just PuG tanks in dungeons.
PvP? No shortage, we’re just not needed. Raids? It’s so much harder to find a raid as a tank than as healer or even dps. Open world? Half the time I join a world boss, there’s like 6 tanks in the raid.
It’s just dungeons where there’s a shortage, and that’s mostly because most groups rely too much on the tank and make the tank’s job way more stressful and harder to learn than it needs to be. Too many groups expect the tank to know the route like the back of their hand, but then get mad when the tank’s route isn’t the same one that they were expecting, and instead of helping plan the route or teach, they just flame.
I do play a tank, will probably always be my main. But tanking puts a spotlight on you and a lot of people aren’t into that. I think it’s by far the funnest role in the game though
Ukrainian fields, usually in convertible mode.
what? too soon?
Extremely fun and the best part is, if everyone wipes, you’re still up and timer is blown and you’re tired of resetting, just flex and solo the entire boss from 60% down to 0% (this has happened). The Spotlight given and the spotlight taketh. What you do with it at times is up to you
No one wants to play tanks - too much responsibility and the what not. And when they do shine - people scream to nerf em to the ground.
So yeah, those us who tank, will continue to do so. But we’re a rare breed - too much ingame and out of game hate to put up with
Better rewards in the Heroic Dungeon Queue Satchels. In Cataclysm it was way better. You had a chance to get rare mounts, pets and other stuff. These days all you get is 2 draconic augment runes and some gold. It’s nice, but not really compelling. If there was a chance for better rewards in the satchel, I’d be all over that.
Most of what ends up driving us off playing on our tank specs is simply once you advance to a certain point, your options for further progression vanish. You need 2 tanks in a raid, and because raid sizes are 20 at the high end difficulty you have a ceiling as to how far you can go in most guilds without multiple teams.
So you can either play a DPS and have continued progression, or stick with tank and need a new guild or dual spec. Similar to how many dps players never entertain the option of swapping to heals or tank, there are a lot of people who just want to tank too.
There’s a lot of solutions to that problem, and I think the best ones are probably just limiting raids to 10 mans or allowing multiple guild memberships (ala ESO). That does mean more leadership roles required, but at the same time you double the number of tanks needed compared to 20 man mythic. The logistics game is something we’ve all been doing for a long time (and possibly a VERY long time if you’ve done it in multiple games). It’s time for some changes.
why not? ppl need to grow there thick skins
what about mythic+?
just because you had an easy time finding a tank doesn’t mean everyone else will, are u being serious ?
I feel this in my Bear soul!
