We Need More Emotes, Not Less

I’m going to try my best to keep this simple and apolitical. Basically, we need more emotes, not less emotes.

It really made me sad when Blizzard took my favorite emote away - that being /moan. It was such a fun and relatively harmless gesture. If somebody tried ganking me in pvp, steal a mob tag, or emote something insulting of their own to me, the /moan always felt like the most satisfying response for me. From one play to another, fun natured ribbing was a way the game felt alive to me.

Sadly that all came to an end when bad things happened within Blizzard. Actions of some bad actors seem to spoil it for everyone. The maxim, “this is why we can’t have nice things” reared its ugly head once again.

So let me take this time to make a personal plea to Blizzard’s fun department. Loosen the restriction on emotes. They are without a doubt an integral part to a characters personality.

Just to name a few, id hope to see the introduction to the following emotes.

/meow
/howl
/bbox
/hiss
/scratch
/nibble
/mumble
/grovel
/praise
/celebrate
/sing
/groan
/whine
/wince

In closing. Consider this, emotes are so important to FF14 that the game actually has quests and micro transactions to unlock emotes.

Just s few ideas off the top of my head. Some more ridiculous than others, and some I’d probably rarely if ever use. In general, I totally get the different strokes for different folks sentiment, and i think an increase in variety would be more fun than a decrease.

I like FFXIV but I find the quests requiring emotes annoying so I don’t want Blizz to copy that. But a bigger variety of emotes added to the list would be nice.

I agree. The quests are super annoying. And the micro transactions on their Final Fantasy store is even more ridiculous. I definitely wouldn’t want Blizz to follow suit in those practices. I was just pointing out that FF14 recognized the value in emotes so much that they actually added game quests and cash grab elements to unlock some of the more exotic emotes.
