We need another Legion

World of Warcraft: Legion — The Fate of Azeroth - YouTube

Look at the reception of these videos, the enthusiasm in the comments and the like/dislike ratios. Blizzard CAN come back, they just need to really hit the nail on the head with narrative, expansion features, and passion for the future of the franchise. Remember this all happened after the disaster which was WoD as well.

If by Legion you mean the x-pack…no, no we don’t. Legion the x-pack was horrible for most of the expansion and introduced the game design style that many dislike in Shadow Lands.

On the other hand…if you mean a Legion style reset of game design direction, I completely agree.

WoW needs another game design evolution. You can roughly say that there has been 3 phases; Classic - Wraith, Cata - Wod, and now Legion - Shadowlands…with the last being the most poorly recieved

WoW needs to either return to a design philosophy that worked…or pick an entire new direction because the Legion - Shadowlands game design obviously is not working

I agree. Being back Titanforging everybodays happy.

Pretty sure the OP means the next expansion needs to really shake things up, like Legion did.

And he’d be right.

Hopefully one without Legiondaries and AP

Well, at least pre vendor legiondaries

Random drop and quality legendaries for everyone? No thanks.

The good aspects of Legion, sure. The bad aspects we need to drop because it’s those same aspects that they’ve carried over for so long until now in shadowlands

The stock recently tanked so if that doesn’t make them turn things around then we are doomed.

The stock drop pretty much had nothing to do with WoW.

The stock drop happened because Blizz delayed the release of OW2 and D4…so if anything, Blizz may divert resources to them

I just want to go back to whatever SLs isn’t. If not Azeroth, at least make it “seem” like we’re in Azeroth even AU Draenor.

I’m not sure where we are heading, but 9.2 makes me feel like we fell of the warcraft boat and got picked up by Willa Wonka’s Circus Show

What would you consider shaking things up?

Legion had a VERY long time for development and honestly I quite honestly didn’t see what was so great about it, it was a nice expansion I admit but many gripes.

We need another solid expansion, no more looking back.

They have been trying to emulate legion in some form, let’s stop it and go forward with a development mindset of designing things that are fun, that open up the world, that stop with these stupid timegates, and deliver proper i n-game story.

I have thought the same thing. They keep trying to copy and paste Legion based on streamer feedback and player metrics, but like a copy of a copy of a copy…. it keeps getting worse each time.

It’ll never be the same. Ultimately they need to understand that they need to use their experience as developers to try to do something new from it all. Not piggyback on Legion.

I am not a fan of Bellular, but he said something I agree.

After they presented the lates 9.2 preview, what I saw made me think as much as he did that “If it was a whole other game, it would be amazing, but I cant really see how that fits in World of Warcraft -from World of Warcraft 3- since most of what it deal with was changed to accommodate that story”.

Furthermore, I think this whole thing really was artists modeling and writing themselves into a corner, lost in a piece that was not their, and they didnt quite understood.

As many games in the last years, and as Yoshida has said he wanted to avoid: Artists have been using games to convey their art, not really understanding the concept of a game, or what makes a game not a graphic novel.

And actually, Ford in West World said something a lot of people in Blizzard need to hear.
(not that i think they dont hear the players, they just dont know what to do with what they hear because as being mostly concept artists, they dont really have a touch with the reality of non artists)

I really felt dejavu watching the presentation, I would almost hear the same response given by Ford to Odyssey in Red River:

Legion was good because alot of the things they did were new & never done before. BFA and SL are just watered down versions of Legion with lots of cut corners and wasted potential.

To get another Legion, they have to find ways to make things were used to doing feel new again.

I just want them to rebuild all classes from the ground up, and make armor themed for the class and not the raid.

That’s your opinion, not a fact.

In my opinion, Legion was one of the best expacs and experiences we ever had in WoW. Even with its negatives (it wasn’t perfect).

I was a casual raider in a guild, liked to pug, liked to quest, liked to level tons of alts, liked to gear them up, liked to farm secrets and mounts, and liked dungeons.

Legion was great.

If you were a min/maxer raider…… Legion wasn’t good for you until much later in the expac.
If you liked class abilities, you probably were let down because classes felt pretty neutered and bland.
Demon Hunter was god tier the whole expac. Kind of annoying, but they were fun as heck to play.
Alts were easy to level up, but were behind a massive grind wall to get decently powered.
For PVP I did RBG … and had a lot of fun, but I always got the feeling there was a lot of negativity towards Legion PVP in general

To me, those were greatly negated by the positives:

Raids were pretty awesome
Dungeons were superb
Mythic+ … speaks for itself
World questing was awesome with the group finder
Easy to server hop for farming
Class halls
Class mounts and questing
Tons of little Easter eggs in the game for each class. Example: taming Fenyr for hunters. Had to do it solo, had to do it on Mythic
Story felt like WoW … included a lot of major characters
Mage tower…. Masterpiece content
Tons of stuff to farm for
Artifacts were artifacts …. Until 7.3.5
The zones are some of he best to ever come out
Tons and tons of questing content
The music was some of the best we’ve had
Probably the best looking tier sets ever
Wasn’t overrun with carry spam in trade
People still talked in trade
Tons of Pugs going on all the time for dungeons, mythics, normal/heroic raids, and farming for quest stuff (solo players were easily able to get tons of content) for Horde AND Alliance

In my opinion, 7.3.2 was one of the best times WoW ever had.
7.3.5 was fantastic too, but was greatly tainted by that atrocious level scaling patch that made leveling slower, dungeons mobs like sponges, and took the fun out of level boosting.
But come on …. Everybody got an OP maxed out artifact weapon for free at the end …. Blizz never does stuff like that. Was too much fun

If you didn’t play in Legion, I think you really, really missed out on a fantastic WoW experience. As soon as 8.0 hit, hasn’t been truly fun since.
