We lost our Yak today

The day is still young. Who is next? :star_struck:
Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if someone who got let go and was a forum moderator came through, saw this, and banned me looool.

It’s really a gut punch. When the Blue Tracker came up with his post, it was an immediate click and read.

A layoff gives someone the opportunity to look for a job while receiving unemployment. Most the time finding a new job results in a pay increase. These people have stumbled upon a blessing in disguise.

I WISH I WAS LAID OFF. My last job I was let go from I almost had a metal stapler thrown at me, got cussed at frequently, and called all kinds of things I thought got left back in high school. I got a new job where I just occasionally get cussed out, but at least I make more money. I’d still love to be pulled into the office and be told the next couple months I have to look for a job and can take some time to find something else.

Also, you can surf Glassdoor all day and see Blizz pay is mediocre at best.

No more golden yak, Sad.

Increased development is code for pushing out content faster.

The difference is, he loved what he did. I’m sure if he hated or disliked it it any way, he would be happy to get laid off.

Oh well. It happens. He’ll get over it.

What a garbage thing to say.

theydidn’t just get cut. like they get stuff to help them

People are laid off everyday from their jobs. It happens quite frequently in this world. I won’t shed a tear over it. The company needs to remain profitable going forward and sometimes businesses think the best way to do that is to reallocate some funding by making cuts.

It’s not like these people are going to starve to death tonight, and if they are… well maybe they should’ve managed their savings a bit better

Yeah, they get severance packages. I just find it bad to hire this new guy, give him 3.5 million off the bat and 11.5 million in stock options, then fire 800 people a month later after a “record year” for profits.

Not a good look.

doesn’t look like they’re doing a good job at it

Probably why they’re removing some of the non-essentials and moving funding to more development related functions.

Consumers in this industry expect a certain amount of communication and interaction with the company producing our product. We have a lot of time invested in our account, and it’s a major/primary for most that consume it.

Communication and community involvement was already bad compared to riot and others. Moreover, Ion has been behind so many of the bad class and systems design decisions that have driven people away and cost revenue. This is a bad business decision.

Sad to see our boy gone

Working for Blizzard didn’t make you celebrated, my friend. You brought that (and now, take that) with you.

Happy trails!
