I’ve been sitting on this for a while, and I think it might make for an interesting discussion – And totally a potential Youtube video later down the line…
We’ve all had those RP experiences where, at the time, everything feels like it’s unfolding naturally… But in hindsight, there were clear warning signs that something wasn’t quite right. Subtle at first. Easy to overlook. Maybe even easy to justify in-character or brush off OOC.
Then, before you know it, the whole thing unravels!
So, Moon Guard, I ask you:
What red flags did you encounter before your entire RP got utterly derailed?

I kinda knew things were going to take a turn for the weird the day a cosmic space giant stabbed our planet with a really big sword.

I don’t know if I’ve ever actually had an RP derail in that particular manner. Most things that make things go off the rails end up being OOC disagreements.
I’ll be honest and say I was the problem when I would drink/get high and start RPing.
8 months later I’m sober still and while I do not RP with certain people due to consequences of my actions. I still manage to find reasons and means to RP. Still talk to a few people occasionally oocly that still care about me.
One chapter of a book closes and another one opens. Lessons learned even though it was and still is painful occasionally.
Every day is a new adventure though.

When everyone showed up saying they were, every single one of them, a bard. I had a feeling things were gonna get reeeaalll iffy.

He was really into Kul Tiran RP, playing up the ‘we don’t want outsiders’ thing, despite being in a relationship with my girl here. He was apparently trying to start up a secret police thing (I didn’t know about that) before he unfriended everyone, left discords, and then changed his icon to some racist b.s.
So now a days, I avoid characters that are racist. Not in the ‘oh, I don’t trust the Horde’ sort of way, but the kind that are just really really REALLY upfront about it.

I’d have to say for me it was when the person I was RPing with oocly started to scream at me in Discord, saying I was ghosting her, when I was carrying on a conversation in a public Discord but not saying anything to her in our private messages. This person would get angry about a lot of things at the drop of a hat. Got really mad at me one day because I wanted to do TW with my guild, even though she was invited along. I told them I was not their punching bag for verbal abuse and walked away from the RP and the person. I hope they get some help and find what they are looking for, but the whole thing kind of turned me off of a lot of Rp.
