WatcherDev responds to cinematic criticism

I did not say that’s the point in why she is bad. I noted that part of the problem was her being entirely unrecognizable.

You are making this one statement the heart of the issue for convenience of argument. We can agree to disagree that she would be more recognizable as Liadrin specifically but she would objectively be more recognizable as a blood elf.

I was an adult and watched it happen

She was basically just some unknown Youtuber making video essays about feminism and video games with barely any views on them

And then gamers wouldn’t stop obsessing and talking about her and harassing her and made her famous

well congrats to us all now we have her going to game studios and making people nerf video game women

A typical response might be that it’s very common to blame workers and lay them off randomly rather than admit to a badly thought out management decision. If female characters now have square jaws it’s probably because someone higher up thinks it makes them look “strong”, just as in real life where a lot of politically connected people, male and female, have similar jaw enlarging surgery to give them a “strong” presence.

Look.

I don’t like being called a liar.

I am also going by your words

You said you couldn’t distinguish her from any other elf.

I pointed out that with these changes you still would not be able to

If you want to argue some low quality air brished variation would have been better. Fine. I don’t care. It’s irrelevant to anything I have been saying.

But she isn’t, she’s still just some random feminist who talks about women’s portrayal in different forms of media and has no power

The only power she has is that after gamers relentlessly harassed her, she started to get invited to events to talk about the harassment she got. And a bunch of gamers would send bomb threats to those events.

So great job I guess lol

Exactly. It can be done (with older technology even), they just didn’t want to.

she literally went to bioware and called the dudes who work there “allies” during anthems development…

Look at art from hearthstone that has her art. Chin and face has a defined slenderness. Lips should be thin and small. Hairstyle should have more volume. Her shoulders are way to broad for an elf.

These are just some off the top of my head.

Sadly that’s the point we are at, yes.

Wow she must be forcing all game devs to make all the beautiful video game women ugly, I am convinced now lol

Do you think she has mind control powers or something? What leverage does she have to force game devs to do that?

Ok. But how is that Liadrin specific?

Thats all elves?

Now remember. Its about how she would look different from all other elves. We are just selectively ignoring she doesnt.

I would have been more ticked off at that tbh

It definitely would have confused all the “omg they used AI” complainers though.

Liadrin’s jaw is definitely giving me emotions.

back in those days there was a huge push on the way women look in video games. too pretty meant its for the male gaze so gotta make them less feminine etc

Look at her new in game model comparison to the cinematic. She should have blood elf specific features. That’s part of the problem she doesn’t even look elven aside from the eyebrows and ears.

Its getting frustrated having to repeat my statements to people jumping in and not keeping up.

If she had more blood elf specific features, she still would not be indistinguishable from other blood elves.

I haven’t seen anyone disagree with that. Just that at least she would be recognizable as a BE.

Me and the Scooby Do Gang are on top of this modern-day mystery, but I have a hunch we All know the reason for the backlash.

Zoinks!!

Meanwhile, the animals in the Madagascar movie — I repeat, animals — convey emotions better.

They’re just pure excuses and a desperate last resort.
