Watch the Arator Animation: Son of Two Worlds

At least she didn’t pick up a weapon and charge into battle.

Great animation! I really love seeing that bit of arator having a more fluid fighting style in action.

but quick question. why was vereesa in dalaran and pregnant when the scourge invaded when she she wasn’t pregnant with the twins until after dalaran had fallen to the scourge (post battle of mount hyjal/early vanilla wow) and never witnessed sylvanas as a banshee until more recently, she thought she was dead at the time, even rhonin had only heard rumors and hadn’t told her at that point (wota: well of eternity like chap 2)

edit: watching it again and. sylvanas also wasn’t in dalaran when arthas attacked it, she was in lordaeron (wc3) so neither sister should’ve been there!
(also as a seprate grumble, please no more pupils on elven eyes, it looks so wrong. they’re supposed to be glowy and pupil-less.)

Not quite as good as the last one with Liadrin but still pretty solid. The ending felt like it was a little too on the nose though. I mean…most people get the theme of the video just from the title. Just one of those “don’t insult my intelligence” moments is all.

Liadran was a banger. This was up there but not quite.

Arator’s problem is his “struggle” of being a half breed really doesn’t resonate all that too much in WoW. Big deal he’s not a full elf or human. His identity struggles don’t really manifest as anything real like Liadrin and her faith shakeup and her journey to become a blood knight.

And without delving too much into spoilders from Beta, is makes his…involvement…in the campaign feel hollow too. Like he’s got a chip on his shoulder and a burden to bear that just isn’t real or makes any real sense.

Edit - I think if this was a character more like Garona who was a halfbreed of 2 different faction parents and portrayed as not welcome on either “side” because of her other parent but was eventually called to defend a planet and had to rise above her past/prejudices that she endured and shown that strength of character to defend a world/people who nobody wanted, it would hit harder.

The retcon to Arator’s past is still weird, but at least he was only in Silvermoon for a short bit before going back to the Alliance side. Makes a little bit better sense than he was always here. Which we know didn’t actually happen.

I really like this type of animation. I want to see more like this.

“I’m not half anything” is so damn good! Loved it!

Elves just built different

The darkness aspect to Arator makes no sense. When has Arator ever been considered “dark”? I get that in Blood Ties, Arator is open to using darker methods to achieve objectives…but that is never shown or told in the game or even in that book.

Or are we really considering that him willing to work with warlocks and shadow priests as dark in the big 2026?

I miss the old Sylvanas. That’s an ugly tattoo imo

To be fair, being a half breed of any race combination is generally going to raise some eyebrows, at least in universe. Someone somewhere is always going to discriminate against another person just for being different. They just didn’t really show what that’s like in this trailer though but there was no doubt some adversity he had to overcome on that front.

Can Lor’Themar get an animation before you kill him?

Yea I feel like a lot of the ‘oh no I am void & light at the same time’ is just a way less compelling version of umbric v rommath, & that mixed identity stuff has been handled better w/ other characters before. The actually pretty compelling hook of ‘mom & dad both left for cigs & milk & instead of coming back did one thousand year murder campaign for my own good allegedly’ taking a back seat to ‘my cosmology identity chart was causing me trouble but now I have solved it’ is a huge bummer imo

Haven’t done the quests on beta yet so maybe they are actually really good idk - & any short would have had trouble following the liadrin one

Is this made by an in-house team, or was it a contracted work? The 3D for 2D is great here, and I’d love any way to learn more about how it was achieved.

I was a bit mixed on Arator…but this made me really love him as a character.

Honestly I cant wait to see more of him in Midnight.

See now there’s the real Liadrin surfacing, a jerk through and through. Extra points for the “you just can’t understand me, I’m too complicated” like a teenager.

Why does Vareesa look like an older human woman?

And why does it look like most characters are wearing pouty lipstick?

Might be worth having a watch for you.
