Not a retcon, more of a “we done goofed. So … how do we fix this?”
And if they do it RIGHT, they’ll discuss that in the story of SL. About how he’s a broken shell of himself and incomplete with a big quest chain to reunite his parts. Much like we did with Thrall at one time. ((elemental bonds, was a big quest chain at one time, gave a nice cloak for a reward))
I mean, I’ve done tabletop RPGs. Two characters named Shin. By the time I realized it, they were both well established characters. Kind of hard to go back and correct things at that point.
I observed that Arthas has only committed three reasonable crimes before his soul was taken over by the blade.
So he didn’t deserve the maw. Perhaps he could have redeemed in after life.
But by throwing him to Maw without getting judged. Uther may have broken the entire Machine.
I am curios to see where it will go. But I hope Arthas has a further storyline.
Well, one of those crimes was a pretty HUGE crime, regardless of his attempts to justify it. Murdering everyone in a city isn’t exactly a SMALL crime.
Don’t think Uther broke it. More likely it was broken by external sources who were after the power, and so long as the machine worked, they couldn’t take that power. So they manipulated events to break the machine.
Well he purged a city genocide would be the biggest and the entire expansion of wrath he was in full control. He got rid of his inner child and nerzhul and woke up as arthas the lich king, he unleashed the scourge attacked org and stormwind etc.
His soul was trapped in the blade too with the rest that was freed once it was shattered.
Yeah, actively tearing his spiritual heart out … just to try and purge your weaknesses … that’d going to leave a stain on your soul.
He gave up a piece of himself to take up the blade yes but he wasnt sealed in it he was fused with nerzhul through the helm and armor of damnation.
Arthas and nerzhul and child arthas had a huge discussion before arthas symbolically killed them off.
That doesn’t mean he wasn’t in control at some degree. Now once he donned the helm … then yes, one can definitely agree he was no longer in any control. Because at some level his soul fused with nerzhul’s soul to form a composite presence that was the lich king.
Yea child arthas sitting in a pit under icecrown alone
Pretty much sums up wrath right here.
An amusing thing about spirits that look like children. They’re either terrifyingly creepy or extremely sad. There’s seldom any in between. It’s like children and the supernatural tend to respond in extreme ways.
I mean, think about Drustvar. Optional quest chain. That girl south of Fallhaven … something was seriously wrong with her on a spiritual level.
Just an odd thing when you think about it.
Anna the witch child and her pet the thorne bush felhound.
Made me wonder if she was responsible for all the animals in the area tbh.North side you have to hunt down 1 witch she is making ritual markers and stuff but anna you only see a few hanging in town and on trees and such.
That quest left me a bit unnerved. Especially her sing song and how she acted so innocent. “Let’s prepare for tea time.” and then summons a monster.
Yeah. Creepy.
But that’s getting off topic. Just the bit about child arthas reminded me of that.
Because child arthas felt a bit … off. Not creepy, just … off in some way.
She also murdered and entire town and blamed her toys for making messes lol.
TBH child arthas was pretty pure and was the only thing holding him back from unleashing the scourge.
Nobbel theorizes that it ripped a piece of him out, but his piety in the Light sent most of it to the Shadowlands.
I agree with the theory.
Which is why there isn’t a High Elf Sylvanas soul wandering the Shadowlands from what we can see so far, as her faith was strictly in herself and not anything capable of divine intervention, as was Uther’s case, as it appears.
I disagree because we and as a paladin meet light uther in 2 or 3 places one being the shrine ,and if you make shadowmourne you meet that one in icc or in the dungeon he shows up as well.
Bastion uther would be the 3 and most complete part of him.
I stand by the 3 part uther trademark 8/28/2020.
As for sylvanas he took her whole soul and made her a banshee she reclaimed her body later on.
An interesting theory. We’ll find out. Assuming they actually do anything with him and he’s not just a character thrown in to make lore nerds happy. Then unhappy when they do nothing with him. I mean, Uther is one of the oldest lore characters still around that hasn’t had his character destroyed by bad writing or corrupted.
As to your theory … there are echoes of the Lich King all around the Broken Isles (if you’re a DK). So it could be echoes of an exceptionally strong spirit.
The broken isle remember he had to transfer the scourge from EK to Kilmador he would have had to pass through that area, the one thing that bugs me is the fact there are hundreds of dead NE spirits he didnt take any of them but he was there at some point.
Perhaps he couldnt take them they were beyond his power idk pretty big missed opportunity.
Could it be his soul to shattered into different pieces just like with Uther ??
