Was Wow your first game?

Hmm, first one I at least remember was Pitfall.

First MMO (for the time it was an mmo) The Realm Online.

WoW wasn’t even close to my first game. I was in my mid 20s when I started playing. I played the RTS games for Warcraft in middle school.

Pong and Pac Man were my first games. I wasn’t seriously hooked until Mario Bros and Zelda on OG Nintendo (my cats are named Link and Zelda).

Ooooh i forgot about Pong!

My dad bought a Pong only console from Sears (RIP), right before he got me an Atari 2600.

How many hours we played that simple game on a 20 inch black and white TV.

The NES a few years later was a revelation.

I remember when I played Pitfall and such on a system that required cassette tapes. Folks don’t know how great they have it in this era of gaming lol

First ever game was either Super Mario Bros. on NES, NFS on PC or Pokemon Red.
My first ever MMO was Runescape back in 2004

YAASSS!!

I had a Tandy color computer 2 that ran on cassette tapes also.

And Pitfall, IIRC you had 20 minutes to run in a single direction…

I dont think I ever “beat” that game-- not even sure if you could beat it. I always just ran out of time.

I think just one guy developed Pitfall.

Different times back then.

My first game was Super Mario Bros. 3 on the NES. I was really young and actually still remember the moment of enlightenment when I realized pressing certain buttons made the man on the screen do certain things.

I never will forget that shock and awe moment. Felt like destiny, and I’ve been playing games ever since. Lol

First MMO was WoW I guess technically, though we did have a pen & paper type of D&D Pokemon adventure on a forum I frequented back in the very early 2000s. Had an MMO vibe, just no actual world or graphics.

I also don’t think Pitfall had an ending. Try as we might, my friend and I just kept going until time ran out arguing over if it was better to stay on top or the bottom.

By the way, the SNES sequel to Pitfall was great and they should make another.

Definitely top!

The scorpions on the bottom were poison!

The would follow u in mid air when you jumped, so your jump launch point had to be pixel perfect!

I still feel SMB3 was one of the hardest Mario games nintendo ever developed.

That tank stage was brutal.

Haha, the ships in world 8? Yeah, I don’t think I ever actually beat the game for the NES - I really don’t remember. I did manage it when they did a remake for the GameBoy Advance, though.

Was a great game. I feel like an old grandma when it comes to video game nostalgia. They just don’t make them like they used to. XD

Fun thread.

Not my first game by a long shot. Pac-Man and Mario on arcade consoles were my first.

WoW was my first pc game, my first MMO, and -by far- my longest lived game. My all-time favorite, and my most heavily-invested game to date.

It was Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back on Atari 2600.

My first game that I can remember playing is a Sesame Street learning game on the NES when I was three years old. There was a mini game where you had to connect a sewer line to Big Bird’s bathtub using various pipes as puzzle pieces, and the only other one I can remember is catching shooting stars in the sky before the Moon got angry with you and ended the game.

There was also a Thomas the Tank Engine game on SNES that I played a ton, though I barely remember it. It had similar mini games that the Sesame Street game had.

Beyond those: Mario, Donkey Kong, and Street Fighter formed my childhood years.

I was 7 years old. My mom sat me down and taught me Chess.

61 years later and I still play a few games each week.

5 wins and one draw, this afternoon.
