The guy is high with fel , so no he is not a nice person
They didn’t need nice when it came to Guldan.
Demon ladies smell great, that’s why we can cast Seduction ![]()
Why would we give them land? Illidan took over their house. Using your logic, we own it now, so we’d just give them back their house.
interesting point. but despite the name, what if this ability is actually just an excess of stench? does it release such an intense stench that the enemy is knocked unconscious?
No, Illidan promised to give the Temple to the Broken when the threat of the Burning Legion was gone. And it was Akama thinking the threat was only the forces in Outlands, while Illidan meant Sagearas.
“The temple will be returned to your people,” Illidan said. He replaced his warglaives in their sheaths. “In good time.”
I already explained multiple times before, the Temple didn’t belong to them. Originally, the Temple was built by the Draenei under Vellen’s leadership. These draeneis have fled to Azeroth. Akama was one of the leaders of the Council (not the owner) and he also fled to Shattrah. The broken were nothing but slaves working under the Demons and were almost extinct until Illidan freed them. Illidan killed the Pit Lord, the previous owner of the Temple, and took the Temple to himself.
We technically heard some random dudes “hey, this house belonged to my ancestors in a long distant past”, then we stormed into the house and killed the owner without warning or notification to give the house to those random dudes.
The concept of slavery was popular in history. In the feudal times, there was only the King and the slaves, yes all of his objects are typically slaves to him. You live in the modern time, and believe slavery was bad, but it was natural back then. Black Temple was Illdan’s Kingdom, he was the King, all of his objects were his slaves, not just the Broken. The Broken could leave his Kindom like Kaelthas, but guess what ? All other outlands species despised them, even their relatives Kurenai didn’t accept them. Living with Illdan was their only option and they willingly did so until some random champions came to give them a chance to kill the house owner and become the owners themselves. They were only accepted by Alliance, when the Alliance “happened” want to launch an attack on the Black Temple and they “happened” to work inside as moles.
TLDR: the champions destroyed another nation for the phat loots using the human rights as the cause without any negotiations nor warnings, then put their puppets to rule that nation. Sounds familiar, right ?
The night elves never liked spending time with other races back then, Illidan was one of their own so to see him use these dark magics and take in demon power, despite the fact he did so to destroy the legion and save his people, was seen as a violation of their ancient rules and thus a betrayal to his brother and people. So they locked him up as a traitor, then Tyrande set him free only for him to take in more dark magic and become the demon hunter we know today. Tyrande freeing him pissed off the warden in charge of keeping his butt in that cell and when he fled to Outland that warden chased after him, eventually got locked in her own jail cell only to I think we the players freed her and she immediately went after Illidan and locked him in that crystal after having us beat him to a bloody pulp if not death or very near it. The only reason we did anything with Illidan painted as a bad guy was because Kael’thas was working for the legion and thus against Illidan for power and framed Illidan with some grand attack. Then to get at Illidan we had to go kick kael’thas’s butt and the naga leader Lady Vashj or whatever. Illidan had sent his loyal followers to go collect the keystone but that left him vulnerable so… yeah the demon hunters he trained got locked up when they came home
Hot take
Victims can be villains, villains can be victims
Maybe he was both?
You speak like Azeroth follows the same laws we do here on Earth.
I don’t buy the idea that Illidan was a victim.
Like, who was he a victim of?
His Druid class teacher? For not giving him a passing grade even though he sucked at Druiding? It’s not his fault Illidan is dumb.
Tyrande? For not falling in love with him? It’s not her fault Illidan smells.
His brother? For passing Druid school with flying colors and getting Tyrande to fall in love with him? It’s not his fault Illidan sucks at everything.
The Night Elf authorities that banished him after he committed multiple crimes? It’s not their fault Illidan won’t stop committing crimes.
The Heroes of Azeroth who invaded his domain and took him down after he enslaved the Broken tribes and tried to steal all the water from the planet to control the population? This was 150% justified.
Originally, he was blatantly a Villain. With noble goals, but still a villain nonetheless.
Did stuff for selfish reasons, many died because of him, and fought other villains like the Lich King.
But he’s since been retconned into some sort of anti-hero, with his own following of DHs, similar to the Lich King himself with the DKs.
Pretty much parallel.
At the end of Legion, he’s a full-blown hero and goes to ‘jail’ Sargeras and watch over him.
No, not really, but attacking and murdering someone in his house to rob their properties is banditry. Yes, the champions were no different from the bandits. I assume banditry is illegal in Azeroth, correct ?
Also, if we don’t take the laws and morals from the Earth in account, then we had no ground to criticize Illidan’s slavery, and the absurd demand of returning the Black Temple
If this were true the rogue class wouldn’t exist.
this goes away from the topic, so I won’t talk about this bs any further. You can make another thread in the rogue forum, I’ll answer your question.
Anyway Illidan was just following orders, just like we were. We both took Black Temple for the same reason. Saying he is completely evil is just wrong. If he is evil, we are evil. He was just doing it as a cover up for his true goal. We just do it because “ooo shinies”
Whose order ? Illidan already turned his fangs against the burning legion at that time, he was on his own and was gathering forces to fight against them.
Kiljaden still orders him around after telling him how naughty he has been, orders him to go back to Azeroth to deal with Arthas, which he loses.
He was absolutely a villain until blizz needed to retcon their story to force the Demon hunter class into the game.
You don’t read the lore, right ? Why are you here ?
What do you mean, Illidan was at the Black Temple when Kiljaden contacted him and gave him the chance to redeem himself by taking out the Frozen Throne. Illidan already had control of the Black Temple before this contact.
