Was CRZ abandoned/nerfed?

This is untrue. CRZ has been active in ZM since minute one. A52 has been permanently linked to illidan and sargeras since the zone opened.

It’s not done in new zones, though it should be during off-peak times.

They’re claiming it is - which means either they are just experiencing the aftermath of other people joining rare spawn groups and being stuck in their shard, or Blizzard changed their policy.

I’ve joined dead shards before in ZM - as in every single rare is up that can be. And I get trapped in them when I join - unless I have someone from my realm invite me to another shard.

I’m like 99% sure that what’s happening is:

  1. Player 1 is on X Server, onto a dead shard of the server.
  2. Players 2-9 are on A-B servers.
  3. Players 2-10 join a group Player 1 set up for a Rare Spawn, and in turn join the shard for X Server. When they leave the group, because X Server’s Shard is dead, they do not return to Servers A-B.
  4. Player 11 joins on X Server. They see players 2-10 in General Chat and around them, and believe it’s CRZ, but it’s just the byproduct of people being trapped in a shard.

Likewise, if the shard you came from is overpopulated, you can be trapped on your new shard as well, it’s not just dead shards that trap you. I’ve been trapped on Stormrage before as Proudmoore, cause the shard I came from was overpopulated.

Sharding essentially:

X Shard (Yours)
Y Shard

If you join Y shard, you can be trapped on Y Shard if Y Shard is a dead shard, or if X Shard is overpopulated. The only way to leave Y shard as your new “default” shard is to logout for like ~30 minutes, or have someone from X Shard (or any Shard on your server) invite you. Your own Realm takes precedence.

To Note: Realms can have multiple shards up at once. I think the most I’ve seen for Proudmoore was like, 4 or 5, in which all of my guildies were in different shards than me and each other lol.

Don’t think so. Often don’t end up on the same shard as my friends. And sometimes even when we’re in groups. “I’m on your dot.”

The only time I see other realm players is around Antros.

From a pure business standpoint it probably is.

I think the telltale signs of what’s really going on behind the scenes is starting to show, even if they’re still hiding sub numbers.

I see them when I join a group for Antros/dune rare/etc. and end up trapped in the shard.

Or they get trapped in mine, cause Proudmoore has dead shards pop up a bunch, I assume the other shards are just too populated.
