Blizzard would probably open source WoW before they’ll add new physical ranged specs/classes. If it’s not some variation on melee it’s probably not going to be added to the game.
We’re back to the “Everything is a Hunter weapon” meme. Swords, axes, daggers… So now they compete with Shaman, DH, Rogues, Druids, Monks…

I was just thinking of the transmog potential.
I’d never take a dagger from a Rogue, ever. As someone that is fond of Rogues.

I was pretty excited to dual wield on a Hunter again, until that struck me. The outrage on the forums over it will be wild.

I want a non-magical non-nature focused gunner spec as well.
However, I think out of current classes, Rogue would be a better fit then a plate wearing strength class.

I don’t understand why people think ranged weapon = agility.
Historically, the archers were the strongest people in the army. You need a lot of strength to shoot an arrow that will do any real damage, because all the power of the arrow comes from your strength.
When archeologists find archer skeletons, they find deformations in their bones due to heavy bow usage.
I’m not saying we should get rid of the agility ranged weapon users, it’s a staple of fantasy. But there’s definitely room for strength ranged weapon users.

So you’re saying archers aren’t fat, they’re just big boned.

Being an archer means you use your muscles as a gun lol

TBF I’d absolutely love a space marine type of hulking ranged spec, but the power armor and flamethrower/grenade launcher/heavy bolter are more in the realm of Tinker.

The way I see it, either Blizzard will add Tinkers or they wont.
If they add Tinkers, it will probably have at least one gun spec I can use, I hope.
But if they won’t add Tinkers, I still want one ranged weapon spec that isn’t full of secondary and tertiary themes diluting the fantasy.
I have nothing against Sentinels or Dark Rangers. In fact, I think they are cool.
But they essentially killed the “pure ranged weapon mastery” fantasy. And that’s a cool fantasy that should be available to us.
The current situation with ranged weapons is like… Imagine a world where Paladins and Death Knights exist, but Warriors don’t. It’s just weird.
