Warriors: the worst class in lore?

Truly it seems in lore Warriors have to face a harsh reality; no matter how hard they train, an equally-skilled magic user will absolutely crush them. They just stand no chance! When Varian and Garrosh were fighting, Rhonin broke them up with a flick of his wrist. Two of the most powerful warriors alive at the time were easily pushed back. Thrall was losing against Garrosh until he called upon the elements and tossed poor Garry around like a rag doll. In the Warcraft movie, Gul’dan “cheated” against Durotan by draining his soul with a mere touch. Saurfang is an incredibly powerful warrior, but what good is his axe against Jaina’s flying ship cannons?

Unfortunately, it seems the lore is not very kind to Warriors.

I did just fine against them so i’m guessing he’d have no problem.

Broxigor, Saurfang’s brother, is the only being in recent history to have ever harmed Sargeras

We didn’t even pull that one off

Warriors are fine. (still should have gotten Broxigor’s axe as a warrior artifact in Legion though TBH)

Often times power rankings are based off of the average member of the class. There are always exceptions.

You have this backwards. Warriors are so incredibly powerful that lesser beings need to cheat to overcome them.

As for lore, Blizzard takes cues from Michael Bay films and makes the most flashy, spectacle ridden storylines in order to keep the audience engaged.

Warriors seem like some of the most respected and loved characters though. Lothar, Danath, Varian, Grom, Kargath, Saurfang, Saurfang jr, Nazgrim (before death knight), Taylor (before ghost), Muradin, Magni (before diamond), etc etc

When a warrior kicks butt and accomplishes something it’s amazing and worth noting. To this day I think Varian had one of the best deaths in Warcraft. The dude took out a giant fel reaver, countless demons, bought the Alliance troops time to escape, and got off one last “For the Alliance” showing Gul’dan he didn’t give two :poop:s what he did or said. As a Warcraft 1 and 2 fan, Lothar sticks out to me as well, or Warcraft 3’s Grom killing Mannoroth.

Warriors can accomplish amazing feats too. They may die accomplishing something great, but they will bring down everyone with them. Which is how a warrior once to die.

Yes that seems sensible.

unfortunately, it is true

warriors are cool because they rely on themselves and a sword rather than the light or magic or anything else to fight.

Grom Hellscream did pretty well.

Something else to consider would be the ratio of warriors to spell casters. There’s a much higher ratio of casters to warriors among the player base so our personal idea of skillset representation is a bit skewed. Yes, the super powerful casters are indeed super powerful, but they are also super rare relative to the rest of the combatant population. They also tend to make flashier heroes and more dastardly villians of tropes and stereotypes.

It’s the skilled and powerful warriors who make the difference the majority of the time. Notable warriors are the extraordinary among the ordinary and therefore often get overlooked because of it. From a gameplay perspective, the only thing I, as a warlock fear less than a skilled warrior is a skilled paladin.

I don’t know, Saurfang was about to kill to the all mighty Malfurion, he wound him badly, but he thought that end him could be not honorable because he hit him from behind. So, he had mercy. The point it’s that a warrior like Saufang technically killed Malfurion, even when he didn’t.

Yeah, Grom was definitely S-tier for mortals, and godly amongst Warriors.

Warriors in-game:

Warriors in Lore:

Warriors are the bravest of the front line classes. They are the tip of the spear.
They have no access to any type of magic yet they throw themselves at any enemy who dare challenge them.
All they rely on and need is their armor,a sharp weapon and sheer determination to get the job done.
